Isn't increasing profit margins what private companies are... supposed to do?

The Bernie-MAGA consortium doesn't think so.

Yes, but you don't then turn around and lie about how you're having to increase prices because your profits are taking a hit.

As long as their customer will let them...and, clearly, the customers have decided it is enough.

I wonder if Amazon will also explain to the American public why its profit margin must increase every single year

If this actually needs explaining to the American public . . .

They lied?

Why should businesses stomach the hit?

I will look for a certain product and not find it locally. Most anything in search online is AMAZON.

Is that the only thing they should consider?

Should I be happy that corporations are abusing H1Bs for virtual slave labor while taking jobs from Americans because it makes more money for the corporation?

Should a pharma company be allowed to lobby (i.e. payoff) congress or a president to mandate their product?

Excusing bad behavior as something "they're supposed to do" leads to negative consequences. It's like the liberals excusing the bad behavior of someone based on their skintone.

Bezos built Amazon by stealing the work of thousands of small businesses. Once a business started to sell too much, he would then go to their supplier and start to undersell them, shutting them out from their largest storefront and destroying that small business.

Walmart shouldn't be allowed to sell things at a loss until local businesses go under, and then raise prices to higher than they were.

I don't care that it did make those companies more money. That is shitty behavior and shouldn't be encouraged. We shouldn't allow large corporations to sue their smaller competitors out of existence, but we do.

These actions create less competition and stifle innovation, but people will tell you that's the "free market" and should be accepted, but there's no reason we have to accept a corporation's malicious greed or bad behavior in pursuit of profits.
