Changed a liberal's mind last evening

I have a family member that's a Karen. Generally, very nice and logical, but definitely leans left. Last evening, discussing the vaccination situation, the discussion turned to hospitalizations.
"People who don't vaccinate should not be allowed to get medical care and clog up the hospitals. They choose to ignore medical advice. If someone who has been vaccinated needs care, someone who hasn't should not clog up the hospitals for the rest of us."
Now, her spouse is severely overweight, has borderline diabetes because he's never met a dessert cart he turned down, and smokes at least a pack a day and ALWAYS has a case of beer in the fridge. So I said,
"I agree. And while they're at it, they should not let in fat people who constantly eat junk food and don't exercise, people who indulge in sweets every chance they get and who smoke and drink to excess. People who exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet and who don't smoke or drink ridiculous sums of alcohol should always get priority over those who can't follow well known medical advice."
**crickets on the other side**
After a severe pregnant pause, she said,
"You're right. I get what you're saying. I was severely over-reacting. Of course we can't deny people medical care. I didn't mean to create a straw man out of people who are ill. I just want people to understand they need to get vaccinated."
I took the small victory and didn't go into why she needs to ease up on the vaccine train. Will chip away a bit at a time.

I doubt you changed her mind. She just didn't want to admit she is a heartless monster in front of people.

None of this really happened.

liberal?? or marxist authoritarian?

It's just bewildering to me how easily people are indoctrinated and brainwashed.
That woman is completely f*cking INSANE.
I would have probably used the AIDS example instead because that really blows a liberal's mind (and I use the term "mind" loosely). And, by AIDS example, I mean of course, AIDS is one of the most easily preventable diseases to ever exist -- either don't engage in risky sex or wear a condom. Therefore, no government research dollars spent on AIDS and AIDS patients denied all care. With COVID, you can just get it walking down the street -- WHILE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
But, it's clear this woman can be controlled and manipulated so f*cking easily. The Nazis would have f*cking loved her. Even if she were a Jew, the Nazis would have had her turning over other Jews -- like George Soros.

She acknowledged her huge flaw in logic and then immediately forgave herself because it was mean to achieve a greater good.
You missed a real opportunity to destroy her.

You didn't change her mind....she just told you what you wanted to hear because your facts invaded her passive aggressive space and she couldn't handle it.
Typical liberal strategy.

Paraphrasing Winston Churchill:
"liberals occasionally stumble upon the truth, but they quickly get up, dust themselves off and move along as if nothing has happened ".

Follow the propaganda. It's not directed toward individuals who eat poorly, smoke, and fail to exercise - it's directed at anti-vaxxers.

Healthcare workers aren't at risk to contract her husband's obesity. You're both idiots and this probably happened in your head.

OK make it a homosexual with AIDS instead. Should they be denied healthcare?

That's not changing minds, she admits she's still a totalitarian Karen. She still thinks if we are all compliant to mommy and daddy government they will give us our freedoms back. They don't care about individual freedom, only that they are coddled by an overreaching government so they could feel "safe".

Healthcare workers wear masks and a lot of them are required to be vaxxed. Doesn't this mean they aren't at risk to contract covid?

Where did I say that anyone should be denied healthcare? Healthcare workers treat literal criminals everyday while police escorts at the bedside. In medicine, sick is sick and we do everything we can to help. It's stupid to deny unvaccinated people medical attention. We never turned down unvaccinated pediatric cases in the past either. My point is that comparing obesity to COVID is a poor analogy.

I knew this was coming. I believe the OP but I'm also a little gullible.

Even assuming it is true, this person will be changed right back after being around liberal friends/watching the news. Nothing will come of this.
