And maybe more. It is impossible to run a self government structure with this much involvement from the general population, who are by and large, lazy and uninformed. Simply put, a large portion of our electorate has no business near a voting booth or even worse a mail in ballot.

If we were better educated and informed, then expanding elections might make some sense.
But by and large, it should be limited to the producers and the providers, and those who have read and understand the Constitution.

But now that the toothpaste is out of the tube, you can't put it back in. So nothing will be able to change without either a mass awakening or a massive shakeup to the current system. Traditional voting won't fix it.

Reminds me of Paul Harvey saying “Self government without self discipline won’t work.”

It doesn't help matters that 98% of actions/programs undertaken by the federal nanny state is wholly unconstitutional .

Curious what your qualifications are? I imagine mine are different than yours.

What does that look like?

Because at face value it sounds a lot like some proposals I've seen from Democrats about who can exercise other rights.

I'm basically among the % that does not want any assistance whatsoever from the federal government. The only federal government needed is a coalition of states joining their independent militaries together to defend our borders, infrastructure, terrirories, interests and assets overseas, and some protection for allies who also provide equal value to us in some way.

It's seems the more Americans are educated/indoctrinated at a university level the more Americans want an oppressive centralized government to lord over them....they believe this authoritarian government will dole out equity and protect them from criticism by conservative minded Americans.

It may be more than 50 percent. I do agree that our form of government is for a moral and knowledgeable population which only describes a fraction of the current electorate.

We talk about how great this nation is....

Are we really great? I think so, but I often wonder why?

There is a growing % of the population that is unrepairable, that is real problem.

I’d settle for voters who read more than the title of bills in congress.

If all they know is there was a vote on the “inflation reduction act” then no amount of constitutional knowledge is going to save us.

It’s way more than 50%.

In my estimation 10-15% educate themselves enough to make an informed vote.

It’s bad. Real bad.

You're completely wrong in this assumption. It's more like 70%.
