What are the chances the GOP retains either or both in the midterms later this year?

The GOP will gain a couple of seats in the Senate.

The House is another story. They'll lose some in the House for sure, but the question is will they lose enough to lose the majority. Personally I think they will still retain the majority, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Democrats get no credit for the positive changes since they vote in a 100% vote NO block.

Over 100% for the Senate.

The House is 55%-45% in Republican favor at the moment, IMO.

Predictit shows the chances of the GOP retaining the House at ~40% and the Senate at ~60%. Lots of currently GOP held suburban districts in blue states that the GOP will have a hard time holding in 2018. Also have to figure that odds are both Arizona senate seats and the NV seat held by Heller will be in Dem hands after 2018, offsetting likely Dem losses in IN, MO, and ND.

Very good. I say 70% chance of retaining both. With the extreme gerrymandering, it is difficult for the Dems to win the House, and with the vast majority of Senate Seats up for grabs being Democratic, it will be tough for them to pull this off. They would have to retain 100% of their seats, and win in AZ or NV. Not going to happen.

That is basically where I am as well. I think they may lose the House though.

GOP will gain a few seats in the Senate.

They will lose ground in the house but retain a majority.

Sounds good to me, though I’m not sure the GOP deserves to remain in power in Congress.

Should pick up some seats in the senate.

The House, who knows. Normal models will have the dems picking up a lot of seats., but will it be enough?

I give them a 50/50 shot.

Senate 95%+ will retain

House 45% will retain control

As to retaining both houses better than 40%

There's a few Democrat senators in deep red states that will probably be pushed out in 2018, resulting in a minor gain for the GOP.

Indiana, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia all have a Democrat up for re-election in 2018 and could easily go GOP.

The GOP could easily lose Arizona and Nevada.
