The two people who broke into a home in East Hartford early Thursday morning and died after the resident shot them were teens, according to police. Authorities said the investigation indicates that they attacked the resident during a home invasion. Officers responded to Graham Road shortly after midnight to investigate reports of gunshots and found a 16-year-old from Hartford and a 15-year-old from Meriden who had been shot. The teens were treated at the scene and rushed to local hospitals, where they were pronounced dead, police said. East Hartford Police Detectives are investigating this as a targeted home invasion, police said. The investigation indicates that the young men entered the home and attacked the man who lives there, who was armed with a handgun and fired, striking them both, police said. The resident was home alone and suffered minor injuries in the attack. Police said the firearm he used is legally registered to him and he is cooperating with police.

When you break into another person’s home, you must be prepared to die.

Excellent. This is why we need to defend our Second amendment rights.

If only we could get some common sense home invasion laws this would never have happened

Didn’t the leftists just say a couple of weeks ago, this never happens?
At that time Laura Ingraham had on a mom who shot an intruder who was attacking her and her daughter.
How many times does this happen but is either buried or never reported on?
Answer: many!

The homeowner should have had one of those window stickers that said home invasions weren’t allowed!

I hope that the media continues to cover this event, because it sounds interesting. The targeted nature of the break-in actually seems to point at some sort of inter-gang dispute.

I suspect that the story will go away with a quickness, if it turns out that this is simply two Crips breaking into the home of a King, with the end of intent of killing the King, but getting their Crip asses killed instead.

Maybe I am reading too much between the lines and the shooter is a charter member of the local Rotary club, but it just sounds sketchy.

You can talk… but it should be “I was afraid for my life, I had to defend myself” on repeat.

You are correct. The NRA publishes a list of these type cases from around the country every month in their magazine. The media just buries this type story.

I remember when something like this happened to another youth, and the burglar's family said: "How else is he supposed to get his money? You need to see it from his point of view."

It amazes me that people can think this way... That it is more important to view things from the eyes of the criminal than the victim.

America is my home, could we get open seasons somewhere for this practice instead of just a particular address I sleep in ?

Sad that these were kids who ended up getting killed for being extraordinarily stupid. Don’t blame the homeowner at all. Just crazy they were 15&16 years old. That’s insane to me.

Whats sad is these 15-16 year olds were apparently never taught by parents that is wrong and dangerous to break into another person’s house.

Yeah, or if you’re not prepared to die at least understand there’s a distinct possibility you could die for your trespasses.
