Cohen told Rosie Gray of the Atlantic “that he was in Los Angeles from the 23rd through the 29th of August”. That was demonstrably false. On the 24th August, he was at Newark Airport.
A USC baseball source confirmed he and his son had visited USC on August 29th. Cohen said that he was in Los Angeles from the 23rd through the 29th of August
If Cohen said he was in Los Angeles “meeting with the baseball coach”, describing a key purpose of the trip, why did he only do so on the last day of that trip?

Interesting story, but probably won't advance the ball for Mueller any. He'll have subpoenaed the cell phone records and he seized 16 physical phones in the raid (burner phones, Michael. Use the burners...) and I think they were able to image all but one old blackberry. And this all well before the sentencing memo when Mueller told Judge Pauley he'd been very cooperative.

This reminds me of the "Kushner back channel" story that came out in early 2017. Remember that? (I believe it was McClatchy that reported that too). They claimed CIA had wiretaps proving Kushner was seeking a back channel with Russians to talk in a secure Russian facility. Only problem is they didn't have Kushner himself on the wiretaps. They had two RUSSIANS discussing it among themselves.
If they had any damning wiretaps of Trump's people and Russians, they would have leaked a long time ago. They leaked Flynn's totally innocuous call with Kislyak, so they would certainly release these.
And, finally, why has Cohen simply not admitted to it? He is out in the press bashing Trump any chance he gets. He has already pleaded guilty to more serious crimes (going to Prague is not a crime). Wouldn't he just fess up by now if it were true? I mean if he wants to hurt Trump this is his chance.
