A great deal of that is almost certainly an increase in diagnosis. You're more likely to find things when you're actively looking for them.
And when they increase dramatically.

No such legislation exists, as far as I can tell.

We now have a "spectrum" of autism.
We now have autism everywhere.
Yep. Narrow down that "spectrum" to where it was just a decade ago and the autism problem pretty much solves itself.

Nothing was covered up. That abstract is publicly available. You can't "cover up" something in the public sphere.
It really is amazing.

When I was growing up we didn’t know the word autism. The “spectrum” for kids in our schools was dumb, dumber and dumbest.

I agree there are way more kids "on the spectrum" than should be. Be true autism is way higher than 30 years ago.
Is it way higher now, or are we better at diagnosing it and are parents more willing to seek out a diagnosis these days? The stigma of that type diagnosis even just a few decades ago was pretty significant, it led to many not wanting their kid labeled. There is a whole movement that sprang up over normalization and acceptance of autistic children because of that mindset.

Great, but first, look to whom I am replying, and second, you and I agree. There was no specific piece of legislation that said pharmaceutical ads were illegal.

Schools now refuse to list autism as the diagnosis on Evaluations and IEPs. Instead, they list Developmental Delays until they turn 9. At 9 years old, a diagnosis has to be recorded, so most of the time it is OHI (other health impairment) or SLD. Even if you have documentation from a pediatric neurologist who diagnosed a child as being on the spectrum, this is overuled by the school psychologist. If the school system acknowledges the Autism diagnosis, they then have to pay for related services to go with that such as ABA therapy. It all comes down to $$.
Are children being over diagnosed? Yes, in some cases. I've had parents bring notes from their nurse with the diagnosis, so I'm sure you can pay someone to write down your child has it. I don't take stock in anything except from a respected pediatric neurologist. Believe me, true spectrum kids are very identifiable. My step son's mom keeps telling everyone he is on the spectrum. She's taken him twice for evals by a ped neurologist. Both times she was told "He's not on the spectrum. He's just bad" Lol. Anything to explain away his behavior instead of giving him consequences. Yes, she is one of those who blames everyone but her 14 yr old baby.

Perhaps the only way for democrats to ensure a national majority long tem might be to convince enough republicans that public health and vaccines are bad, thereby re-introducing childhood diseases and epidemics in republican communities thereby reducing the overall republican population. It's a long game, but it looks like it is succeeding beyond anyone's wildest dreams.
(That would be the ultimate conspiracy, right?)

If we are diagnosing it more now then shouldn’t we see an equal number of adults being treated for autism? Where are all the autistic 50 years olds? I don’t know a damn one, but I have 4 kids on my street with obvious autism.
While anecdotal I think most people seem to feel that there a lot more kids today that fall into the category of mentally challenged than there were 50/40/30 years ago.
Is it vaccines? Maybe so, maybe not. But you can’t convince me something isn’t causing a massive rise in mental issues with our young people.

Why do all women nowadays have to get those gigantic ghastly tattoos? So trashy.

There is probably a slight increase in cases of autism, but there is nothing to link vaccines to autism. Lots of other actually harmful things increased dramatically over the past 3-4 decades. Sugar? Microplastics? Cell phones? Wireless internet? There are lots of potential things.
But, there are also clearly more diagnoses because both the attention on and scope of the disease have also dramatically increased. Most of those adults you're referencing learned coping skills or are cared for by their parents or other institutions, so you either don't realize or don't see them.

And that bring me to my next point. When I was growing up I knew of one person with a peanut allergy through high school. I saw one person have a seizure.
That is of all the kids I ever had any contract with. The seizure was a kid from another school at a sporting event. The peanut allergy was a kid I did go to school with.
Now I am grown. My kids are grown. Two of my kids have had seizures. That is double the number I ever heard about when I was a kid. Two of my kids are allergic to gluten (USA bread). That is two more than I ever heard of as a child.
So don't by the argument that it is just diagnosis with autism even though autism is unrelated to my said examples.
All of this is related. All of this have increased. I have seen it. Autism... allergies and yes even big arse tattoos. So don't try and push it off as just diagnosis. I have seen it increase with my own two eyes. I believe my eyes over the DS globalist every time.
