But it would not be a run of the mill North Face like back pack. I've seen back packs for carrying guns. They are bigger than standard, did he stash that ahead of time or was he walking around the perimeter with it? If so, why did not locals on the outer perimeter not stop and search...supposedly he was considered a person that they had at least a passing interest in

That is what confuses me. You see a suspicious person with a backpack and just talk about it amongst yourselves? Then he comes back with a range finder and you just talk about it again? That is BS. If they were suspicious, one of them would have come out and questioned the shooter and either detained him or cleared him from the area.

it is now way beyond incompetence. They knew about this loon. He was pointed out to them as he was walking around a check point put on their watch list.

Yet the kid got the shot in.

He told them he needed a ladder because he didn’t finish yesterday’s electrician work? They probably brought it to him.

This will get so brutal. It’s a tragic failure.

If I were the Butler County Sheriff I would have detained all the SS officers and all of the local LEO on duty at that event.

Even at this time I would still have them in detention . I don't give a flying phuck about federal regs and the rest of that watery shite.

I would have my Under Sheriff drive President Trump from the hospital to his airplane.

I'm holding the rest for intense interrogation , this krap does not add up. If cheadle crosses into my county I'm locking her up too.

This has too be busted wide open , our Republic is in Peril.

A 16" upper is a hair over 24"; that doesn't seem oversized for a backpack.

Hell, for all I know he was walking around with it slung over his back and they ignored him. We don't let backpacks into our church service, so I can't imagine bringing one to a POTUS event. I'm just saying it's not that hard to hide a broken down AR.

Here's a picture of an AR-15 broken down into two pieces for easy concealment. You have the Upper Receiver and Lower Receiver separated for easy carry in a backpack. This can be assembled and fired in seconds.

The bag I use to transport my rifle to the range works exactly this way. The lower and the upper are placed in separate pockets and neatly tucked inside.
So, depending on the size of the shooter's bag it's totally possible.

That's a very nice setup. I like the way your knife is attached to the rig. Tell me about your blade? I really need to get into knives more than I have.

Just noticed your 2003 sign-up date. Hadn't noticed you until recently on the Poli Board. It's always cool to see posters with an 03 or 04 sign-up date.

So they had people in the building but didn't hear the frickin dude getting on and crawling around on a metal roof? That would be extremely easy to hear.

They keep making it worse and worse. You don't secure a roof by being inside a building; you just don't. You may be comfortable in the A/C but you haven't secured shite except the inside of that building.

“It’s either an inside job or they’re inept”

That was my first thought. They were either in on it or they were bunch of coward cops like in Uvalde.

Why the frick were they IN the building? What good are snipers at ground level? Get on top of it

Nothing wrong with being in the building. In fact, I think that's a good thing. But the roof of the building is absolutely critical. Someone either should have been up there, or had it covered. But none of that helps a bit if the crazy instructions are still in place to wait until the assassin shoots to do anything.

I'm picturing a situation in which the SS had actually placed a couple of snipers on that building. The perp climbs up there and begins to set up his rifle about 20 feet from the snipers. The snipers radio in to HQ asking what to do, and they are told to follow SOP and hold off unless the perp starts shooting. Then he shoots at Trump, and they kill him. How would it have been different?

The real problem is that a government sniper had the perp in his sights and had to wait while he produced a rifle, aimed it at Trump, and pulled the trigger. THAT's the real problem.

SNL should do a skit on several scenarios that could develop while SS personnel follow their SOP.

The snipers chilling in the building were supposed to be on the roof, apparently in the same area he shot from.

Those snipers need some intense questioning. They left their post

It was a hot summer day. Easy for you to type this in the air conditioning. Give a sniper a break, man!

That's not me, just a picture of the bag I use for my AR. IRL I have a cheapo Bear Grylls Gerber knife so I can't comment on what is in the picture. The bag is pretty versatile...even has a pocket for installing a water bladder for hydration on hikes. Also has a pocket up top to zip out to accommodate a longer barrel.

Registered for sports chats, but found it difficult to keep that focus in light of what has transpired in our world. At some point, politics became more important so ended up spending the majority of my time here now.

This pic?

He's wearing the same shirt, it appears. I love that my tax dollars helped pay for a secret service member to take a photo of a suspicious person near the rally of a former president and current republican nominee for president instead of confronting him.

This was one of the photos that leaked out.

Absolute incompetence. They should have snipers ready to take him out the moment he showed signs of pulling out a weapon.
