Mark and Julie Pulte, the father and stepmother of Bill Pulte, President Donald Trump’s appointee as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, since 2020 have claimed so-called “homestead exemptions” for residences in wealthy neighborhoods in both Michigan and Florida, according to the records. The exemption is meant to give a discount to homeowners on taxes for properties they use as their primary residence.

Pulte also encouraged the fight and prosecution of Jerome Powell, which nearly blocked Kevin Warsh’s confirmation and also incentivized Powell to refuse to step aside at the end of his term as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. Multiple press reports indicate Pulte got Gabbard’s position because Roger Stone and his circle of friends pushed the President.

Some will defend Pulte because of his wealth, but it is wealth built largely by others. He’s best known for giving money away on Twitter, which had the side benefit of growing his Twitter following as he chased meme stocks.

He’s not fit for the job. He’s never handled classified information or been in briefings about national security matters. He has no qualifications for it. His appointment is a bad joke.

On the upside, he’s not sympathetic to Russia and hates the Iranians, and the appointment shows how worthless the position actually is. Some members of Congress have already talked about abolishing the role. The CIA has even stopped contributing to intelligence briefings related to the office. It’s not a worthwhile office. Just consider that the former Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, is now the Director of the CIA and is not handing intelligence over to the Director of National Intelligence.

Now the Director of National Intelligence is a dolt and a joke, and we should be rid of the office.
