Okay, so here's the story best I can piece it together-
One guy (maybe two) breaks into a business
Someone calls the business owner at home
Business owner and his son (and possibly friends) rush down to business
They enter and see a fire on the counter and grab the criminal
They call SPD and SFD repeatedly who refuse to come because they fear for their lives
40 minutes later a crowd shows up and pushes down the gate
A bigger crowd shows up and pushes the first crowd off the property line
The criminal gets away in the crowd
Why wouldn't the police come? Car Tender is on 12th & Olive and (last I checked) Olive is open to vehicle traffic so the police could have rolled right up to the business if they'd wanted to.
Note that even if the police had responded there would have been no less damage done by the original criminal. Someone called the business owner who went down and caught the guy before calling the police.
Other than the police refusing to serve taxpayers, the other story here is that "community policing" seems to work. The public protected this business from a mob when the SPD refused to do so.

That's BS.

I still can't believe how ridiculous all of this is.

Just ask the guy that was "just having bad day" when his car was smashed and his phone and keys taken.

If there's no law for them, there's no law for anyone - business owner should have killed the criminals on the spot

I think that's the road we're going down pretty quickly.

Hopefully a lesson these people are going to learn after all of this is never give up your right to own/carry guns.

Owner should not be paying taxes because why should he?

Looks like this is legit, here's a link to cap hill's community blog/news site covering it with basically the same details you provided. I'm confused how this is possible though, because Korkstand (a guy who lives in Plaquemine, LA according to his profile) said it's business as normal in the CHAZ/CHOP area.

I can’t imagine not being armed.
And I can’t imagine being a Democrat. They’re legitimately rooting for the least productive people in our country to wreck our way of living.

They want to tear it all down because they think, when Year Zero happens, they will be in control.
They’ll be some of the first against the wall.

Quick question: that part of Seattle is actually pretty nice right? Are there Seattle residents still living within Chaz? Would it be like you leaving your nice apartment building for the day and having to step over a homeless person as you’re leaving your building to go about your day?

Well bub, it looks like community policing didn't work if the culprit got away due to the "community's" inability to control the scene. The macro-level fear that they may be caught and punished is what keeps most people in line most of the time. The lack of police in the area is what led to this guy thinking he could get away with it. This may be a wild thought but maybe, just maybe, this can be associated with the "community's" lack of training, equipment, patrol car, jail, judicial system, and general lack of recourse.

Not in Seattle. I suggest the owner sell and move somewhere more rational.
