Ending the Drug War would curb a lot of the violence down in Mexico just as ending the prohibition of alcohol ended the mob violence here in the states.

I believe El Salvador is a bit closer to our borders than Syria, for instance. Which one is a danger for us? That's a rhetorical question, but I don't expect you to be armed with the knowledge to answer it anyway.

I was there in May of 2004 for my senior trip. Makes you think, it could have been me.
For real though, I did have one scary experience while I was there. I left a bar before my friends did around 1 AM, got a taxi, then he started driving the opposite direction of my resort. Handed me a brochure with nude Mexican girls on it and said "Mexican pussy". I was like "no, no Mexican pussy". It took me getting downright irate for the guy to turn around. Either I was going to get beaten and robbed or that guy thought I really needed some Mexican pussy.
