I watched, again, the movie "Bull Durham" last night on demand and the only black actor with a speaking part in the entire movie was portraying the former baseball player who owned the pool hall which Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) was in when he learned "Nuke" (Tim Robbins) was promoted to the Major League.
Funny. One of my favorite movies was from 14 years earlier, and the star was a black guy.

How much of this can be explained by targeted advertising?
For instance, on any given day, a black family is more likely to eat fast food than a white family. McDonalds targeted blacks for advertising because of this.

Even though white people outnumber black people 3 to 1?

You couldn’t possibly know that unless you have had a conversation about it with each of the “100s” of black people that you work with. Is this where you claim that you, in fact, have spoken with 100s of co-workers about their feelings about gay black men?

Target the advertising to the brothers too much then they get mad as they did with Colt 45 and Schlitz Malt Liquor. Same with Kool menthol's.
The Crown air fresheners were king of the 1980's GM G-body (Grand Prix, Regal, and Monte Carlo's) the official 1990's car of the hood, until someone came up with the rumor that the KKK was making the money from the crowns.

Every couple in America is mixed race according to people who produce TV commercials.

I’d be happy if they would just get rid of the HIV commercials… there are not that many people with fricking AIDS to where I see a HIV med advertisement at every commercial break
To me, the WTF in the HIV commercials happens when the group walks in to get tattoos.
Think, people.

I do enjoy the life insurance commercial where the wife mentions someone who dies of a heart attack, and is asking her husband if they have life insurance. The setting is in their kitchen of a very expensive looking house. He says, “ I’m looking for some that we can afford”. His wife blurts out, “JOHN” in a condescending tone.
It shocks me that the black man has his priorities so screwed up, and is incapable of searching to find affordable insurance.

Respectfully, I just don't think very much can be (the fast food commercials and traditionally black products, but this is almost universal for almost a decade). The spending power of white folks, in the aggregate, just dwarfs that of black folks.
It's superficial, virtue-signaling diversity, IMHO, and it isn't particularly new. I laugh about it now. I saw one the other day with the swirl the other way. I thought, well, there's something you don't see every day.
I don't get many ads, anyway, unless I'm watching a sports event and the stats are through the roof. I remember a couple of years back when I saw the Carhart commercial where the white couple wakes up and then starts getting after their crazy task list for the day and I remarked, "Hell, this commercial is a revolutionary act."

Any white guy in a commercial is currently a bad guy (i.e. robber in an alarm commercial) or depicted as ignorant.

They hope to create more fudgepackers because heck, all you have to do is take this pill and pack the fudge.

One reason I spend 90% of my tv time with You Tube Premium. No commercials. But, I do understand the disdain for commercials today because I do see some.

I very seldom watch live TV. I skip through the commercials with the DVR.

Some, I'm sure.
But this trend is across the board.
And were not even seeing real diversity. You'll never see non-white or even women being thieves in an alarm commercial.

Do you know what the methodology of this study was? They analyzed over 1 million commercials. You think this was done by hand?

I agree and also tired of seeing gays/homos/fig scenes ruining TV shows and movies. Will not watch any of those at all.

They for sure need to pull back on the latino ads, shrinking customer base and all that.

I feel like I see all sort of people including white folks in ads. Of all the problems in the world, making sure the schemes to make me want things I do not need represents ethnicities exactly like the national/regional percentages is simply not one of the important ones to me.

Exactly. We don’t need pornographic sex scenes in everything.

They make it appear as common. I'm old and have only personally known probably less than 10 gay people in my life.
This theory that they're 3% of the population is nonsense.
