In Bossier parish, a tax was voted down last year. It would have gave teachers a raise and increase taxes by 20%. Can Edwards use executive order to raise our property taxes? It's his last term, he has nothing to lose.

Do you mean real estate tax? Here in Ark. we have both a property tax and a real estate tax.

Property taxes are the one thing I believe people who rent should not be able to vote on. People shouldn't be able to vote to increase taxes on things that won't affect them.

Property taxes

Aren’t that bad in actual conservative states where there is NO state income tax. States like Texas and Tennessee. And a few others.

Just FYI. I know I’m considering some things now.

Amen. The people in Orleans Parish get royally screwed because of this.

Have another upvote sir. I have some rent houses and yes it pisses me off when someone living in a section 8 (none of my properties are S8) or a housing project can vote on me paying more money.

Exactly. And when you have to raise the rent to negate the effect, they attack you. Raising property taxes only helps the bureaucrats. Trust me, none of that money is going to fix broken roads and bridges.

I hate property taxes so damn much. You will never own property here, it’s all just rent. You own nothing.

I'll take it a step further and say that property taxes shouldn't exist at all. We left England to escape the feudal system only to vote it in here?!?!?

If you think rent won’t go higher when property tax is increased, you’re mistaken.

Renters pay property tax built into their rent amount. Unless you think someone who owns rental property is so stupid as to not include their expenses when setting the rent amounts.

You have rent houses and don’t understand that the property taxes should be paid by your rentors? You should liquidate those properties immediately and find a new hobby.

Property taxes impact renters just as much landowners.

They do impact renters, the problem is many probably don't recognize it instead passing it off as the landlord getting greedy. This is much the same reason the federal government uses the withholding method for income taxes. The recipient thinks by getting a "refund" that it's a bonus instead of realizing the money was theirs to start. Politicians know that using taxes that are harder to recognize to the average person is good business for taxing the ignorant masses.

Are you stupid or something? Rental rates reflect taxes you idiot. So yes, it does affect renters.
