this will cause a huge spike in used car prices
California is going to look like Cuba in 20 years with all the old ICE cars being driven around, held together with only duct tape and bailing wire.

They can have the EVs. Maybe all the climate change nutjobs will relocate there.

Let's say, hypothetically, the whole world goes to electronic cars this weekend and the infrastructure is global to power cars at "power stations" instead of gas stations.
Lines at the pump in the 1970's will look like a cakewalk compared to lines at the charging station in the 2030's.

I'd call that "sort of" true. For most people, they will do almost 100% of their charging from home. Only folks that drive more than a couple hundred miles a day will need to charge at a Super Charger on the highway.

It won't take long for backups to occur in the line when a "quick" charge is 30 minutes. Up north in winter will probably take longer.
With ICE cars, you can be in and out in 5 or 6 minutes if you don't go inside to buy some cheetos and a 6-pack.

Meanwhile they are shutting down reliable electric generators and offering up solar, wind and magical unicorn farts instead.
All those EV owners are going to love those black-outs and brown outs!

The car companies certainly bend the knee to them.

What's going to happen when an ICE is developed that runs on hydrogen? You know...a truly GREEN engine and not some motor reliant on a Chinese-produced battery that needs massive strip mining to produce and massive toxic waste landfills to discard.

That’s the kicker , nobody is talking bout, when they r talking bout transitioning to green energy, you will have curtail your energy use to match the 90 % drop of energy available so , your energy use will be severely decreased , people are puzzled, but thats their plan , they can use nuclear energy then our energy needs would be met, but then the left wouldn’t be able to gain control

So...it's unicorn farts then

That's another issue.
These idiots assume everyone has 1-2 vehicles in a suburban style home.
No apartments, no street parking, no older homes etc.

Why don't they do something productive like prescribed burns to avoid wildfires? Are they contemporaneously building some nuclear power plants to upgrade the grid? Have they figured out what they are going to do with the dead batteries in 2040-45?

quote:Nevada car dealerships will explode right on the state line. Sort of like when you have dry counties, you can go just beyond the county line and voila, a beer or liquor store.
suppose those who can't buy a new electric car will be forced to buy used ICE cars in the future?

I envision a constellation of gas powered car dealerships, new and used, springing up in the border of Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon.

The big question is IF the California Electric Grid can support the influx of people plugging in their vehicles every night.
Just wait for the first rolling blackout AFTER everyone goes electric.

This is what you get when you have lawyers, gender studies majors, poli sci majors, journalism majors, etc. make public policy.
The non-woke engineers and scientists know this can’t be done. We have dumbed down public education to the point where there’s little critical thinking skills taught.

LOL. The commie-fornains are having to beg for lec'tricty(and water) from their neighboring states now.
Plus all those rolling brown outs.
The electrical gird is now over 20 years old in most states.
With a yuge increase in electricity, all those power lines are gonna have to be replaced with heavier guage power lines. And transformers, and lots of other items used in the transmission of electricity.
ANDDDDD millions of home are gonna have to be retro-fitted for electrical receptacles so Karen & Ken can recharge their little clown car.
Oh yeah, there is going to be huge needs for mega-tons of new metals...like cooper, lithium, cobalt, nickel...
Now what are they gonna do when they go 'all' EV in about 15 years?
BTW, did you see where pretty-boy gavin newsome is trying to keep their last new-clearer power plant open?
