I wanted newsom gone for many reasons. One of which was that he will be a threat to take the White House. Had he lost tonight that threat would’ve been eliminated. Now he’s going to unleash even more hell on us and you’ll have more lib neighbors moving in from the Bay Area. Good luck.

He’s the governor of the single most important state. No matter the party affiliation that is a big deal. He also just dominated a recall and the narrative coming out of it will be the vindication of his policies as being not only popular but necessary. That makes him a threat and he’s absolutely ambitious and egotistical enough to pursue the presidency.

This is what I was worried about. You are going to see weak kneed political windsock governors, congressmen, and senators see these results and believe tough COVID restrictions and mandates are the way to go.
Very smart for CA to count the pro democrat votes first, call it for Newsome while he has a big lead, and then drag their feet on the pro recall votes so the news cycle tomorrow morning can be all about Newsome's big win. By the time the pro recall votes are counted and the margin shrinks the narrative will already have done its damage.
I'd be worried if I lived in a blue state with a democrat governor, or a red state with a weak Republican governor like Ohio.

Most important in what way? Its electoral votes are off the table so nobody focuses on it politically. It doesn’t have enough water or power and is hemorrhaging business to non-nanny states. California is politically irrelevant nationally. Dems entire messaging in 2020 was basically California damage control- trying to get voters to forget it even exists. When you invite Newsom to the national party, you have to talk about California and that would never happen anymore

Just for starters… big tech and food production. One can censor what you see and is in bed with the federal government and the other only feeds a lot of the world. They’re big deals. As batshit crazy as this state is it is an economic powerhouse and its industries influence the youth in a big way.
Regarding its inability to keep the power on, yeah that’s a problem. Water is a problem driven by inconsistent rain and snowfall coupled with bad policy.
Newsom is going to claim a major propaganda victory and the media will carry his message nationally. We’ll see what happens in the future.
