You want to say dumb cops, but look at the details. Their are reports of shots being fired from both sides of the truck.
Yeah the cops were shooting from up the embankment at her. Rewatch the video and you’ll see round skipping on the pavement proving it
What person firing rounds at cops is going to be in the open, by the way? Your take is idiotic

Are you kidding me? I never said it was the first thing I thought of. I said that the journalist didn’t ask the obvious question after telling the part of the story they wanted told.
Isn’t their job to tell the entire story?
It's not an obvious question because it's irrelevant to the situation.
Let's say for the sake of this conversation that she and her family did come into the country illegally. Her immigration status didn't kidnap her and take her on a high speed chase. Her immigration status didn't pull the trigger as she was getting out of the car and following the officer's instructions. And I'm willing to bet if she and her family did cross illegally that it wasn't exactly her call.

If journalists for AP were to do their job and ask the question, and if the father is here illegally, then the situation might never have occurred if the law was enforced. So, nah, it's relevant.

This girl was shot and killed and your first thought is "I wonder if she's legal?" and not "how did the police frick up so bad?"
There were reports from people calling into police that the passenger in the vehicle was also shooting from the vehicle.
She was also wearing tactical gear.
It looks bad. But it wasn’t a cut and dried “police saw a girl and cut her down!”

Yea they tried to use that excuse at first, but there was only one gun recovered from the truck. Seems like they have given up on that excuse. I haven't seen it in any recent articles. They also tried to say that the father shot her.

Right. That doesn’t change that people actually reported that the passenger was shooting and that cops had that information.

Yeah. If you can’t read English, it looks exactly like that.

Do you have a link saying that callers said that, or did the police assert that from their pursuit?
This news article says nothing about callers. LINK

The teenage daughter of a murder suspect from Fontana is believed to have been involved in shooting a weapon at authorities prior to her death at the end of a shootout in the High Desert on Sept. 27, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said at a press conference on Sept. 27 that his department was looking into the possibility that the teenage girl, along with her father, was shooting at deputies during the incident. Then on Sept. 28, Dicus released a video message which said that the county's specialized detectives processed the scene throughout the previous night and reported their findings to the chief."Based on the information, evidence suggests that Savanna Graziano was a participant in shooting at our deputies," Dicus said.

That sounds a lot like a husband telling his wife he wouldn't hit her if she didn't make him so angry.

It's not that police frick up every now and then that annoys me. It's the fact that when they frick up, they go out of their way to cover it up.
That girl's poor family probably thanked those officers for doing the best they could..when they heard that her dad murdered her. Not knowing that the cops were the ones who killed her.

In rereading the articles on this, I think you’re correct. The reports of a 911 call (as the result of the Amber alert) that began the pursuit were conflated with the police reports of shots being fired from the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
I saw an interview snippet where they had a person saying shots were coming from the vehicle, but that person might have been from the police department. I can’t find any independent reporting of it.

I generally give LEOs the benefit of the doubt and support their immunity from actions they may take in the line of duty.
With that said, it sure seems like something has changed in their training that they shoot until they are out of bullets. If one shoots then they all start shooting no matter if they know what or why they or shooting. All those officers shooting at an unarmed person so I guess they all saw something that made them feel their lives were threatened?

quote:Nowhere does it say that in the quoted information in the OP. It says "Other shots were fired from the passenger’s side, according to a deputy and a passing motorist. It is unclear who was shooting from the pickup truck. "
There were reports from people calling into police that the passenger in the vehicle was also shooting from the vehicle.
Where does it say the passenger was firing?
It's likely the driver was firing out of both sides of the pickup truck's front windows based on the fact that the police later found only one gun in the truck.
So an unarmed teenage girl who was following the directions of an officer after she exited the truck was shot multiple times and killed. That's murder.

the root cause of why she died.
