Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs

When you find out that this mayor is only 26 years old, born in 1990, this stupidity of universal income starts to make more sense.

Poor people generally are poor because they don't make wise decisions with their lifestyle and/or money they have. We've seen this scenario played out already in a limited setting and it's why FEMA no longer just gives out cash in the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster.

Here's what's going to happen...

There will be a large influx of poor into the town which will mean stories coming out within the first few months of the program that it's costing far more than anticipated. If somehow it's able to last 3 years, you'll see an increase in qualifying households each year, and not by a handful.

Alcohol, tobacco, high-end sneakers and electronics will see a boom in sales.

Drug use will increase thus drug addictions will increase which will snowball into an increase in drug-related crimes and deaths (not just by users but by more dealers getting into the action and coming into conflict with one another).

There may be a handful of feel-good stories that come out of this but the majority of stories are going to do nothing but underscore (what should be) the common sense of why no one has done this on such a large scale before.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

We would save a shite load of money if we just gave cash benefits instead of housing, food, day care, etc.

We’d save a lot more money by getting out of the welfare business and letting the churches and charities handle this kind of thing instead.

It wouldn't end with $500 a month...as always, they would be back for more.

I’d tend to agree, but we’d probably have a lot more homeless to deal with. Possibly more crime too.

I was under the impression that this five hundo was an additional bonus for being extra worthless. All the other freebies would still be given. Does this aim to replace housing, food stamps, etc?

I know he’s not universally loved, but JFK was the last reasonable Democratic POTUS.

Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.

My time...it never ceases to amaze me how the donkeys shy away from bringing his name up much these days since they've gone off the left cliff.

Can you just hear Obama, Hillary, Pelosi or any of the other progs using a quote like this...what would they apply it to?

"Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what your country owes you.

This is not how it works. This a-hole is living in a complete fantasyland, which I can only assume is drug-fueled.

Look for a bunch of those hard working and tax paying citizens to move out. I would guess revenue will go down and expenses will go up. Might not happen over night but people get sick of busting their arse and having to work until the day they die to support a bunch of losers.

Saw another report a few months back that said 1.8 trillion.

Dems use common core math though. 2 + 2 = 8
