Buzzfeed article

some CLiffs...

Kid from Oakland transferred from Morehouse and is back at a Community College becuase he had racked up $60,000 in loans and would've graduated with this class had he stayed

his solution....

quote:

"If these other billionaires paid their fair shares [of taxes], I wouldn’t have had to drop out," he said.

and also

quote:

The current system is only punishing "humans trying to get an education," he noted. And black students who attend HBCUs are on average leaving school with higher amounts of student debt because those institutions disproportionately receive lower amounts of funding and endowments.

Or maybe these students are leaving with mountains of debt is because tuition is sky-high and they should've looked into other places... the college did not make these students attend this College

Perhaps he should have paid attention during his high school math classes.

Sounds like that is where he should have started instead of going "out-of-state" with a greater financial burden.

The reason you pay so much for school is that the government subsidizes student loans. When universities see guaranteed money they start offering retarded classes that get you nowhere in your personal career. If these schools were forced to contribute 50% of the student loan financing, you'd see these prices drop overnight.

First off, good on that billionaire and I am so happy for those young men.

But could you imagine Warren Buffet going to a HWCU men's school and doing that? Assuming one existed.

Entire cities would be burned to the ground.

Can't say I blame him for being bitter.

How do you rack up $60K in student debt and wind up back in community college?

Wiki on Morehouse College

quote:

Morehouse College is a private, all-male, historically black college in Atlanta, Georgia

...

quote:

because those institutions disproportionately receive lower amounts of funding and endowments.

well he's right about the endowments. from that link:

quote:

Endowment $135 million

but endowments come from alums so...

I wonder if they are going to reimburse those that worked and paid their own way through?

Of course the little fricker started a gofundme asking for handouts to pay back his loans. Get a fricking job!

I'm still paying back the wife's $60k for a master's degree. And now she's talking about a doctorate.

or people who paid them off early

or what they'll reimburse for private students or those who went out of state v. in-state public

the argument that it's "fair" to just abolish all the debt doesn't really get into the fairness of the policy for those involved
