Bush: If GOP stands for 'white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism, it's not going to win anything

The Hill article
quote:
"I know this - that if the Republican Party stands for exclusivity, you know, used to be country clubs, now evidently it's white Anglo-Saxon Protestantism, then it's not going to win anything," Bush added.
The Dispatch's Stephen F. Hayes was referencing the briefly proposed creation of an America First caucus in the House, a group that some pro-Trump lawmakers flirted with forming earlier this year.

OK then, how about shifting gears and embracing Islam?
Is that the winning formula?

Several years later, I’m still utterly embarrassed I voted for that clown.
No. If you frick up a war and then participate in crashing an economy, you do worse than not winning. You usher in eight years of rapid decline. This idiot has been out of touch with everything.

Biggest disappointment of my life so far as politicians go.
How did anyone think Bush was conservative when his father was Deep State patient zero? His father's allies purged Pat Buchanan from the Republican Party 8 years prior. That entire family is scum.

I don't think that was really clear to 99% of Republicans during the Republican Primaries in 2000. He ran against McCain who positioned himself to Bush's left. I even remember statements by Bush that were critical of the military operations in the Balkans during the campaign that were similar to Buchanan sentiments.
