New York Post today:

Sales of the US’s No. 1 beer were down 24.6% for the week ended May 13 compared to a year ago — slightly worse than the 23.6% dip they suffered a week earlier, according to Bump Williams Consulting and Nielson IQ research.
Even more alarming, industry experts say, is the negative impact on Anheuser-Busch InBev’s other brands, including Budweiser, Michelob Ultra — with the latter being the nation’s No. 3 beer last year with more than $3.3 billion in sales last year.
Michelob Ultra sales were off 2.9% versus a year ago in the latest week, in line with a drop a week earlier, according to a Bump Williams analysis of Nielsen IQ data. Sales of Budweiser, last year’s No. 7 beer with more than $1.8 billion in sales, were down 9.7% in each of the two most recent weeks.
“Bud Light is ‘sick,’” Bump Williams, founder of the consultancy said of the US’s top-selling beer, which raked in $4.8 billion in sales last year. “It’s now infected other healthy brands with the InBev portfolio and that’s a bigger problem in my mind.”
“Bud Light is ‘sick,’” Bump Williams, founder of the consultancy said of the US’s top-selling beer, which raked in $4.8 billion in sales last year.
Sales of Busch Light were down 6.8% compared to 0.3% decline the previous week, while Anheuser-Busch’s Natural Light sales were down by 2.8% in the week ended May 13 compared to a 2.5% decline the previous week
Modello volume is growing, some baws dont know thats the same company. But certainly is not offsetting these loses by any means.

Yep, the usual names either said "no effect" or "over in a week or two".

The other thread mentioned that AB is doing a buyback of unsold product.
That’s a lot of fricking money but it was either that or the distributors burn them to the ground for sticking them with this shite.

Pretty sure someone poured a case into the tank of a Ford Raptor. Didn't Ford make a commercial about it?

Constellation owns the distribution rights for most of America for Grupo Modelo brands.
Yes AB owns it, but it isn’t the same

Couple of notes on why sales decline is worse than the numbers show:
This is sales dollar data collected at major chain stores, on premise/ bar is not in the data and I guarantee its far worse.
Second, and here is where AB is real cute. Note what Nielsen pulls....dollar sales data at the register, thats the scanned price. So those coupons, bar scans, etc that are giving the consumer the product at half cost, that does not figure into the 24.6% sales drop. If they had just dropped the price the decline would have been far greater, but they "mask it" by couponing.

Are draft sales counted in those totals or is that strictly bottled and canned product?

True, its part of the arrangement they made with the FTC to allow them to buy A/B. Constellation is the master distributor so in some cases the local A?B distributor does not even get Corona or Modello to sell.
The parent inbev/ab/ambev/etc still gets royalties off the brand but not near the profit per case they make off Bud Light.
Thanks for the heads up, I should have noted.

It's a low quality product virtually indistinguishable from competitors. There isn't really any reason to go back to BL or be convinced to do so due to price, quality, availability, or any unique differentiator. All they had was marketing and "that's what daddy drank" loyalists.
They are going to have to rebrand it to try and get people to eventually forget how stupid they were.

No Teke, that would be on premise. Thats why you know the total sales are far worse. Convenience stores and bars are the stongest channels for AB brands.
With draft, its all or nothing, once you lose that tap, you lose all sales.
