At least as far back as 1986 LSU had remedial English class (ENGL 0091 & ENGL 0092) for some incoming freshmen. I truly never understood why this would be offered or even considered at any college or university. This should have been covered quite well by the end of third grade in elementary school. for the athletes.

LSU was open admission back then. No application, no test score or essay required. Walk in the field house, register and give them a check at the cashier. Public education was/is terrible and many didn’t have the basics when they showed up.

They took everybody and washed out half the freshman class each year. But you got your chance.

I don’t remember any athletes in my section.
