It isn't. This is a stark example of why we have been saying from the beginning that Trump and his administration are shite.

What?
If Google buys an ISP, they can effectively block whomever they like.

Better get used to those. The conspiracy blogs where most of you get your news won’t be able to match the MSM in terms of buying prioritized traffic through ISPs.

Yeah, and they’re also idiots (although I don’t think there are that many on this board). The Orange God King can do no wrong for you. You’re a simpleton.

This should be the argument for any straight American male.
If Porn Hub likes it then so should you.
This board is made up of mostly straight American males right.......??????

Unlike you, I was simply asking if those supporting NN had read anything besides social media in formulating their opinions. I got no affirmative answers. Proves my point that there is nothing but sheer ignorance besides the assertions that the NN repeal is evil. You the 'independent' thinker have also failed to provide us with facts. I will note that I have not said if I am pro or against NN. Any assumptions you have made are simply on you.
Oh, and I never said who I voted for either. Tolerant!

I’ve gone in mass detail about this with you and your ilk, but I would be better talking to brick wall than you.

since when has free markets and open competition ever not been good for us?
The action taken today is the opposite of a free market. What this change means is that Cox or Comcast can decide what websites they will allow you to connect to, and at what cost. They can charge more for you to contact a particular site. They can block any site they want. In other words, the ISPs do not have to be "neutral" (thus the term "net neutrality") to what you, as the end consumer, can access.
This is the end of the free market online.

Most places in the US have only one or two high speed internet providers. Internet access in the US is a monopoly, there is no competition. Providers have enormous leverage over consumers and content providers. And they just got the green light from Trump to bend everyone over.
Congratulations you stupid fricks, did you think Trump was truly a populist? You got played, admit it.

I'd argue differently.
The internet has almost become the sole source for speech and press.

not when there are local monopolies preventing you from entering the market place
Monopolies prevent you from entering the market place when they can generally do the following:
1. Economic barriers, like pricing out competition or providing a better service/product.
2. Physical barriers, like physically block infrastructure construction by owning the land.
3. Regulatory barriers, like NN.
Since throttling is a form of NOT pricing out competition, the big ISPs DO NOT own all the land and now their service and pricing is not protected by NN they do not have a monopoly. If I could accumulate sufficient capital and beat the big boy's price and service point it would be a worthy business venture.

I've read about both sides, and unfortunately it's either the greatest thing ever created, or one of the worst government overreaches ever. I'm not a fan of being charged differently or having slower speeds applied based on what website I want to go to.
I also have legitimate concerns about the "free market" where I'm basically stuck with Cox Digital Cable in my area. Comcast, Time Warner, and the other cable companies are so interlaced with government, it's tough for me to even argue they are free market corporations.

Was talking to my dad about this, telling him we need to keep net neutrality. His response was “but isn’t that one of Obama’s policies”.
People are blind and think just because Obama did it, it has to suck. But it’s truly the best thing he did for this country, and I don’t even like the man.
Open your eyes folks!

Hey dipshit. Giving the ISPs the unlimited power to decide what websites people can connect to IS the same thing as a physical barrier. They can physically block the people connecting through their service from being able to access any website they want. That IS a monopoly power, by your own definition.
