Hey dipshit. Giving the ISPs the unlimited power to decide what websites people can connect to IS the same thing as a physical barrier. They can physically block the people connecting through their service from being able to access any website they want. That IS a monopoly power, by your own definition.

You don't understand what type of barrier to entry he is talking about.
Title 2 regulation actually helps strengthen barriers to entry, thus strengthening the current ISP strangleholds.

1. Economic barriers, like pricing out competition or providing a better service/product.
2. Physical barriers, like physically block infrastructure construction by owning the land.
3. Regulatory barriers, like NN.
Since throttling is a form of NOT pricing out competition, the big ISPs DO NOT own all the land and now their service and pricing is not protected by NN they do not have a monopoly. If I could accumulate sufficient capital and beat the big boy's price and service point it would be a worthy business venture.
So you think its feasible that it was too difficult for Google to open up a new ISP, but it is easy enough for a mom and pop company to do so?
Also, its telling that some in favor of NN constantly talk of being free of "govt regulation", but conveniently leave it it was in fact the govt that gave them access to the internet to begin with.
This never was a free market to begin with

That falls under economic barrier. Limiting what websites you can surf is a type of service.
In this case when I mean physical barrier I mean the land that you have to either purchase, acquire easements, and/or permits to install fiber.

Thank you for clarifying!
It's much harder to come up with actual facts than name calling. It requires some education and critical thinking. Tough thing for some around here!
I'm still waiting for actual citations from official documents backing up assertions made for NN.

If the power company throttles your power to 4 days a week what do you do?
Solar panels, cogen, wood fireplace...
Its a little more difficult to do with the internet though

We arent quite to the matrix yet.

Once again I'll ask you. Now that this has been rolled back do you honestly think ISP competition will increase in areas around the country?

I would probably call my public service commission and complain.

My concern is that Comcast goes back to its old ways of slowing down content it doesnt like for business reasons (includes Netflix).

Some places, sure, some places not. Do you think under title 2 regulation it would have?
You seem to be under the delusion that I am against everything in the current NN order.

I hear your concern. I share the frustration that we (in our area) only have two providers to 'choose' from. A duopoly is a strange animal. I think there is much more awareness of the issues involved and there will be much more scrutiny. But having the government be the 'scrutinizer' is never a good thing.

This is mainly what it boils down to. People are afraid of what "might" happen, however they don't look past the second one company may try something like that.
There is however ways of preventing stuff like that, and avoiding Title 2. That is where the conversation needs to go to, not bickering about crap we have no idea one way or the other if a company will do.

Which is exactly what people did before NN and regulations were put into place.
Would you want those regulations rolled back?

I think it will. The ISPs will be able to demand unlimited amounts of money from both content providers and end consumers. Who wouldn't want to start an ISP with this kind of power? I expect Walmart to start an ISP.

Right. If some company "tries that," maybe the FCC will step in and say that they can't do that. That's what happened last time. And now that consumer protection is gone.

When someone breaks into your house do you call the govt to be the scrutinizer?
What about when a company becomes either a monopoly or a oligarchy with good old fashioned collusion? Again is that a bad use of the "scrutinizer"?
Btw your argument isnt lost on me, I am merely pointing out that most conservatives "hate big govt" until it involves things they are adamant about.

Unlike you, I was simply asking if those supporting NN had read anything besides social media in formulating their opinions. I got no affirmative answers. Proves my point that there is nothing but sheer ignorance besides the assertions that the NN repeal is evil. You the 'independent' thinker have also failed to provide us with facts. I will note that I have not said if I am pro or against NN. Any assumptions you have made are simply on you. Oh, and I never said who I voted for either. Tolerant!
Please explain to me why all traffic should not be treated equal......

Because Walmart will surely succeed where google failed
