This suit was filed by CO republicans to keep trump off the primary ballot, if it gets fast tracked thru the US Supreme court it will pretty clearly mean that the Republican establishment wants him gone

So how many times has the left lost their shite over voter ID laws because they feel minorities are too incapable of obtaining an ID and then would have their voting rights violated but the left is totally fine with completely removing a valid candidate for POTUS off the electoral ballot completely. Hmm…just hmm…

Hi politics board first time posting here because this case is fascinating. Y’all would call me liberal, but if I moved to the Pacific Northwest I would be considered a neo con probably. I like reading here to get a different view but o. This I may be agreeing.
I’m not a trump fan at all, but isn’t insurrection a federal crime of which trump has not been convicted? Didn’t think state supreme court can in essence convict a person without trial.
I do believe trump did try and overturn an election that he knew he lost and did actively incite an insurrection but that is for a legal trial to determine and didn’t think that’s the way a state Supreme Court should operate.
Don’t think even most dems would agree with this.

It helps him immensely in the short term. The sympathy vote in the primaries just got boosted because of it and that’s exactly what they want. They need Trump as the nominee to take him out.
It’s a trial run for them to do this now. They’re going to see how quickly SCOTUS can act on this before they do it in other states.

There may very well be a bunch of people on the left who are cheerleading the decision but they are not who brought the case, nor will they ultimately be the ones to uphold it at the highest level

Trumps lawyers aren’t even appealing that he committed insurrection against the Constitution, just that the oath of President doesn't say "uphold", and trying to argue the President isn’t an officer of the United States They have essentially stipulated that he committed insurrection against the Constitution.

Yeah, look how much better off we are for Trump's first term just 3 years later. Trump isn't going to save us. Anything he does will be completely erased within a year after he leaves office.
