But you are not a centrist. You are a conservative, right? I always thought you were a nevertrump republican?

Maybe I am thinking of the wrong person.

That doesn't show collusion. If she was not working with the campaign to funnel the money, that is not collusion.

I'm not nevertrump

I voted for Trump, and despite this pathetic showing today, I'll probably vote for him again

TBH the only policy/political difference between me and most of these Trump-obsessed types are 1) I don't think it's a crime against God to utter a bad word about Trump and 2) I'm not obsessed with illegal immigration.

I was asking whether she was a member of or was working with witting members of trump's campaign.

It looks like she was not.

Based on all these reports you would think this is the first time a foreign country cyber attacked or tried to cause disarray in American politics

Just curious where this outrage was over the last two decades, I bet no one can answer that.

Now all of a sudden we want to have accountability and get to the bottom of everything? Give me a break

NPR Article

quote:

Authorities said Butina established contact with an unnamed American political operative in Moscow in 2013 who worked with her to arrange introductions to influential people inside the U.S. and to advance Russian interests. One of the contacts was with an "organization promoting gun rights," which NPR has previously reported is the National Rifle Association.

"I believe that Butina and the Russian official took these steps in order to infiltrate those groups and advance the interests of the Russian Federation," agent Helson wrote.

Maybe this chick is a Russian spy. If so, I hope she goes to jail. But NPR is trying to claim it is in RUSSIA'S best interests for American citizens to be armed. You'd have to be insane to come to that conclusion. Her lawyer seems to be very confident though:

quote:

"The substance of the charge in the complaint is overblown," Driscoll said. "While styled as some sort of conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agent Registration Act, in actuality it describes a conspiracy to have a 'friendship dinner' at Bistro Bis with a group of Americans and Russians to discuss foreign relations between the two countries."

He added: "There is simply no indication of Butina seeking to influence or undermine any specific policy or law in the United States."

Will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere.

I'm not so sure that the average Poli Board reckless republican wouldn't take the side of a foreign agent against America. In fact, many seem to be doing exactly that in this thread.

Regardless of political affiliation, we must take care to defend the country against malicious outsiders. Of course, any prosecution will require real evidence. It's perfectly fine to be skeptical as the criminal justice system is founded on honest skepticism, until proven otherwise, but these so-called conservatives here are spouting all kinds of irrational crap.

This has yet to be practiced in any of the Mueller indictments.

I can’t believe liberals managed to combine Russians and gun control/anti NRA into the same story
