You can’t control the drilling, shipping, storing, refining, buying, selling, trading and taxing of oil and then say you don’t control oil prices. Pedo Joe has already said it’s the Putin price hike, so evidently he is already trying to blame someone else. He knows this is on him. Just like the left always said everything was Trumps fault, this is on him. Revoking licenses on federal land is part of process of him screwing us over.

I'm not in the US at the moment and gas prices are high over here as well. It takes sheer arrogance to think that the president is causing oil prices to go up globally rather than it being a global demand/supply problem primarily caused by OPEC nations. US oil production has mostly recovered, OPEC oil production hasn't. I love how the board doesn't really understand anything about energy.

What’s funny is you sit there and pontificate but actually are guilty of exactly what you speak of. Who is not taking the calls of the Potatus & Chief? Saudi and UAE. Who has the most pull in OPEC? Hmmmm maybe that fricking corrupt waste of oxygen shouldn’t be passing off the biggest OPEC members by playing footsie with Iran! But hey, it’s not Biden’s fault…..you fricking mental midget!

Then how come our prices are lower than in other countries if global prices have such an impact? My brother just returned from Spain today and he said that gas was over two dollars a liter which is around 7.60 a gallon. It's currently 4.69 here in the states. So why the huge discrepancy?

Because Spain taxes their oil much more than the US you genius.

How are you this dumb and not realizing this?

US prices are much lower because the US government doesn't tax oil near enough to the same extent that European countries do.

LINK

Here's a graphic that shows this.

How are you this misinformed?

Around 60+% of the cost of oil goes to the government in Spain while only 25% of the cost of oil goes to the government in the US.

But he doesn't control drilling, shipping, storing or refining. Oil production in the US is controlled by private companies.

OPEC production isn't controlled by Biden.

I don't blame Biden for oil prices being high over here because it's a global problem.

That's a drop in the bucket. In 2021 we used 19.78 barrels a day - and that was during a pandemic. Importing 7 million a day would not raise prices like they have.

Are you honestly dumb?

Oil prices are determined *globally*. Total demand globally for oil is much higher than global supply, driving up prices.

Oil is sold to multiple countries, not just the US. The prices have risen because it's a global supply-demand problem.

In fact, if you're talking about the US in particular, the production of US oil is not that much lower than pre-pandemic so it's not US oil production lagging that's driving up prices. It supports my damn point.

He has revoked drilling licenses on federal owned land, that is controlling drilling. He has also banned Russian oil use in the United States. Production is controlled by private companies, but it’s the red tape laws that his administration has put in place that makes it difficult. In return, production costs more compared to the Trump administration. In return, prices are higher. This is on pedo Joe!!

The USA is the global leader in all facets so to presume that we have no influence on fuel prices as a whole is asinine!

No, I work at a buy-side firm.

Selling used cars could be my back-up career though.

Because the Venezuelan government massively subsidises gas for domestic consumers.

You cannot possibly be this dumb. How the frick did you not know this?!

I hate you people so much for not actually understanding basic facts.

No, to argue that the US is the primary driver in oil prices rising is asinine when US oil production has nearly recovered.
