I'll get downvoted for this, but I don't think allowing gay scouts was their undoing. Caving to special interests is what was their undoing. They completely changed their identity and how they operated to appease the SJWs.

Allowing girls and changing their name was a real head scratcher and the final nail in the coffin.

As an Assistant Scout Master that has been with the program for a while this is very frustrating an disheartening. The BSA has been in a non-win situation for a while now with both sides forcing the BSA in a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. The the liberal activist have been forcing the BSA to allow gay scout leaders, gay scouts, and now trans-kids into the program with the media assault and lawsuits...then the conservative side can't stand that and are pulling in the opposite direction...

What you have is organizations like Trail Life USA which is comprised of separatist from the BSA that started a male only Christian base scouting program and the Mormons completely pulled out forcing the BSA to create a Kindergarten level in Cub Scouts which is too you @ 5 Years old and now inviting girls to participate in the program to recover lost numbers.

My son just put on Star rank which is 2 away from Eagle Scout. I hope the BSA is around to finish. Fortunately our Troop is still traditional and that won't charge with our Charter Sponsor.

Such a very sad time. I really love the lessons that scouting teaches boys..especially nowadays where younger parents are not as involved in their kids lives as they used to be and disconnected these kids have become with learning some of the most basic abilities of how to take care of themselves an how to deal with challenges when there is no technology around.

I equate this to Obama stepping in shite when he started all the transgender/bathroom bullshite. No one gave a shite before he pushed the topic into the limelight.

Same thing with gay scouts in scouting. Who was talking about this before they made it an issue?

I was a boy scout. I'm gay. I know it was different times, but I didn't have any agenda -- I was a boy who liked doing regular things boys liked to do. Camping, building things, learning how to compete and work with others to achieve goals, how to be an upstanding young man. I was like minded with my other scout friends in every way.

It seems to me Boy Scouts stepped in their own shite by making this an issue and it shouldn't have been. If you want to be a boy scout and you are a boy, you are welcome, but you must adhere to their ideals, goals, and program. If you have any agenda other than what they set forth, you leave.

Their problem is they changed themselves to suit the wants of others. Sad.

Membership has been declining for a long time... long before the decision to formally allow gay scouts was made. (they were never banned... it was more of a don't ask don't tell thing).

But yes... a lot of people (some of whom post on this board) believe that they don't want any diversity of ideas or lifestyle, they want their kids only around other kids who are like them.

Whether's it's the scouts, travel ball, or private school. All the same thing.

The Boy Scouts has been a Homosexual organization from the very beginning.

What's unfortunate is that the chapters that I was involved with along with my son (Cub Scouts, mostly) were great for the kids and taught them a lot of things as well as helping my son to socialize with other kids and learn how to work with others. The chapters I was involved with were very heavy on parental involvement. It's a shame though. The goals of the organization were very worthwhile for young men.

Most people who have negative views on scouting have no idea what the program is about. They take the soundbites they hear on TV and form an opinion based on something they know very little about.

In the Cub Scouts, those little guys have no idea what the hell these adult topics are about and just want to play...The Boy Scouts just want to enjoy the time learning and doing scout skills, fellowship with each other and eat, eat,eat...
