In an opinion piece at fox news

quote:

Given the importance of protecting a president’s confidential discussions with his senior advisers, I strongly disagree with Bolton’s decision to release the book before the November presidential election and call on him to withdraw it from the publisher immediately
quote:

Presidents must be able to candidly consult with their advisers without worrying they will leak these discussions to the press or obtain high-dollar book contracts to publish them. A book by a former national security adviser ahead of a president’s reelection bid may set a dangerous precedent since it could discourage future presidents from seeking advice from expert advisers on sensitive national security matters,

quote:

If a manuscript of this sensitivity was to be published at all, this should happen after the election, not in the spring of 2020. I don’t understand the need for a former National Security Adviser to publish a tell-all book critical of a president he served, especially during a presidential reelection campaign that will determine the fate of the country. There will be a time for Bolton to speak out without appearing to try to tip a presidential election

Cats out the bag. Withdrawing the book only makes it seem like a coverup.

Of course he is correct. However, Bolton is a known piece of shite and will do what he wants.

Had no idea why Trump brought him in and the guy is just a time bomb. At his age he doesn't give a frick what bridges he burns.

How is this not able to be squashed by executive privilege?

There's nothing to squash.

Even if you believe this "transcript" that the NYT has admittedly not even seen the entirety of, there is nothing illegal described.

As a matter of fact, it backs up Trump's case that all his decisions were based around the concerns over corruption in the Ukraine.

Seriously, he can't understand that?

Maybe Bolton thought it was important enough to get the facts out about a candidate before the actual election. Wouldn't it be too late after the election?

it's funny how they are the best right up until they disagree with Trump.

As a person who hates both of these parties this is enjoyable to watch.

I think Bolton's involvement in this is being gigantically over blown.

Nothing Bolton says or writes in a book matters. Trump will remain president for the next 5 years. The democrats fricked up the impeachment process and even worse they lied. We have the transcript ourselves to read. Voters will decide in November if we want Trump back, and the answer is yes.

There were loads of people saying bringing him in was a mistake.

Frankly, I have no idea why he was unless the pool of candidates was just that small. He has never really had anything in common with Trump on foreign policy.
