Every September of an election year, Republicans find a new way to eat their own. This week it is Lauren Boebert.

Look at the voting record before you pile on. Heritage Action: 100 percent this Congress, 97 percent lifetime. Club for Growth: 100 percent in 2025. The Institute for Legislative Analysis ranks her 18th out of about 219 House Republicans at 92.82 percent. That is the top 8 percent of the entire GOP conference. She is not a 55-percent “Republican in Name Only.” She is one of the most reliable conservative votes in the House.

...and this is who some of you want to throw overboard six weeks before an election.

The complaint came from David Wheeler and American Muckrakers. This is not a new “whistleblower.” This is the same operation that has been trying to take Boebert out since 2022 with escort stories, abortion claims, and meth rumors that never held up. They helped end Madison Cawthorn’s career and then locked onto Boebert as the next target. They even sued her for defamation after she called them out. One of the staffers named in this latest filing has already called the allegations false and defamatory. Boebert has denied them outright. File it, investigate it, fine. Repeating it as settled fact in September is not “accountability.” It is opposition research with an R next to the retweet button.

Democrats already think this seat is in play. CO-04 is R+9. Trump won it by double digits. Cook and Inside Elections still call it Solid Republican. But Eileen Laubacher, a well-funded Democrat and former Republican, has raised millions while Boebert has been sitting on a fraction of that cash. National Democrats are dumping money into a deep-red district because they smell blood. They do not need a conviction. They just need Republicans to do the dirty work for them.

This is exactly why we deserve to lose. We take our highest-scoring conservatives, the ones who actually vote in the 90s, and feed them to a smear in the last two months of a cycle. Then we act shocked when the replacement votes like a 50 or 60 percent Republican and the conference drifts left. You do not replace a 97 percent Heritage score with a “more electable” moderate and then complain the party is weak.

I am tired of watching conservatives treat their own best players like they are disposable. If the Ethics Committee finds something real, deal with it. Until then, amplifying a four-year vendetta in September is how you hand Democrats a seat they should never touch. I have no idea why I keep supporting a party that does this to itself.
