It's worth noting digging into the numbers that government and "public" jobs are taking big hits.
And foreign born employment is taking a hit too.

Is the economy good or bad? Take a stance.
We’re in a transitional phase. Gutting federal jobs and illegals makes an impact. Tariffs and the uncertainty around them has an impact too. Once we get the tariff situation stabilized, which is going to happen, small business owners will be able to move forward. The Fed will also play a role too. People have to be patient right now.

H1-B boy. You love those H1-B visa's.
You made plans for self deportation yet? How many illegals in your family?

To build all of these data centers he has gotten trillions in commitments for is going to require a lot more electricians, HVAC, engineers and so on than we have in the workforce.
Plans are in the works and the energy will be coming out of West Texas. Electricity from NG is still a lot cheaper than nuclear. Nuclear is a long term solution but does not become viable until we get out of this NG glut.

Like ppl arent in Vegas? I was there 30 days ago and it was packed
I have been there twice this year.... Once was for a huge equipment show, so tons of people there for that but the casinos were not packed either time... I was in there Saturday to Saturday both times...
Talked to some people in the industry in Vegas and each one said they thought there was a big shift to more entertainment and dining and away from gambling...
For a long time Vegas "visitor" it seemed strange but based on the pool parties and lines at the clubs, I could see their point...

Numbers jan through june
Biden added a million American jobs and a million foreign born jobs.
Trump added two million American jobs and lost 543K foreign born jobs.
He is absolutely nailing it for Americans, 300K a month. Does it surprise anyone that illegals going home is affecting overall job hires?

Im just worried how long its going to take. HVAC has a big labor shortage already, and thats before all that money starts getting poured into new projects.
quote:
The HVAC industry is facing a significant and growing labor shortage, with a projected need for 400,000 technicians and installers but only employing around 300,000, and predictions suggesting that half of all field technician positions could be unfilled by 2027
Need to pump those numbers up. I recently got my HVAC replaced, those guys make a good living

There is a certain poster who relies on the accuracy of the BLS to make his argument
Have you ever been diagnosed as being bi-polar?

You are right. It's a high demand field. Many millionaires can be made in this sector but have to be willing to work and work hard.

Everyone pointing out the price of Vegas is the real cause of the decline, not the economy.
Vegas basically has gone down the same path of Stellantis, where they are pricing out their bread and butter for better margins. Now they are on the same path that destroyed Jeep and Ram.
A rule was passed where they had to include the "resort fee" in the room price now, this caused every published room to basically increase $50/night. The resort fees have gone wild post Covid. Table minimums are up to $15 at least on Strip, with most being $25 at your better casinos. Gone are the days of $5/$10 tables. Almost every casino has switched to 6/5 blackjack from 3/2, which is a major rip-off. Then to finish it off, your player cards earn you essentially nothing.
You can go to Oklahoma and gamble with $1000 and probably get a free cruise in a comp. Do the same in Vegas, you might get a buffet.
Vegas will suffer until they bring back the bargains and kill off the resort fees.
