A separate conversation is how we distinguish this from other stand your ground cases. This potentially degrades the law’s effectiveness. In Texas it was about as rock solid as it gets (you basically only have to reasonably fear for your life).
It doesn't degrade anything. First. Texas does not have a singular, separate "stand your ground" law. Second, the law requires the force used to be proportional to the perceived threat. Pulling a knife and stabbing someone in the chest is not proportional to someone putting their hand on you to remove them from their space.
So there is no "conversation" (aka leftist bitch fest) necessary. The "conversation" was held at the trial.

Unsure why Mellow had a knife. The facts don’t show premeditated murder.
You think he has the impulse control of an untrained dog?

I don’t think “stand your ground” means you have to be somewhere “where you belong”
There’s been a lot about how he was “in the other team’s tent.” This was a public place and he had just as much right to be there as anyone else
Regardless, there was testimony that it was normal for other teams huddle in opposing tents.
So I disagree with your proposition there. Now, all he would have to believe is he was in fear of his life. Based on the actions of the other guy, I’m saying it could have been possible for him to need to “stand his ground.”
Jury decided it didn’t apply here based on the facts. But I’m making the distinction if they were slightly different (I t even a different jury perhaps) then the self defense law might have applied.

Considering virtually every politician has a law degree is a much bigger indictment of the sheer absurdity of law school

If someone said that, they would be wrong, and almost as retarded as you are.

Reasonable is defined by the jury or judge.
It could be reasonable to fear for your life from a man depending on what he said or how he acted. That’s my point.
Apparently wasn’t the case here (according to this jury at least).
But the aggressor need not possess a weapon for you to reasonably fear for your life.
Was there testimony of what Metcalf allegedly said to Mellow?

C'mon, they don't really want a "real" conversation about race, because it's too simple for them to understand.
- don't break the law
- take care of yourself and your family with the content of YOUR character
- everyone's stake in life is determined by one's own actions, not dependent on the government

Why are you still posting this when it was presented and disproven already? This is no longer a question. There was no "reasonable" response.

And you need to respond reasonably to the threat. Additionally, witness after witness pinned the perp as the aggressor. Stand your ground is useless when you are the aggressor.
It's absolutely hilarious how you claimed attorneys sit on here and make every excuse for a judge and court if it's the right person as a defendant. In this trial, it's sounds like you are on one knee sobbing through your words.

You really believe this was not brought up by anyone?

Wow, I am horrified to hear that about black women! I can't even imagine what they go through every day that is worse than having your son murdered because of his race. I had no idea that black women hate it worse than that, every single day!!!!
