The question is irrelevant

It is relevant in the sense that a person was discriminated against because of a genetic characteristic - a phenotype or set of phenotypes. Gays claim they are born that way and cannot help it - a genotype. In both cases, there is a claim that you are being discriminated against based on something that is out of your control. In the case of blacks, that is certainly true. Is that the case for gays as well? Has there been a "gay gene" pinpointed?

Poorly worded.

I presume he was referring to the quest for equal rights rather than the rights themselves. Assuming that, I'd agree wholeheartedly.

I wonder if the other gay black guys are pissed at Michael Sam being with little whitey Vito ... just like how all the sistahs get pissed when brothas shack up with white beyotches.

Yup. It's above the "good at hockey" gene and between the "murder" gene and the "hitchhiker thumb" gene. It is linked to the "I like Barbara Streisand" gene. Though it is not understood how exactly.

The question is irrelevant. It's irrelevant because gays were never slaves and do not have a comparable history to blacks in this country.

Not comparable in the sense that gays weren't slaves but black people were never jailed for being black. Gay people were.

Ever heard of Stonewall? The start of the "gay rights movement? Seems back in the 60's, if you went to a gay bar, you were subject to arrest for various morals charges. In fact, you couldn't get a liquor license if you sold to gays. So the only owners were mainly the mafia, who'd pay off the BAT and police and serve overpriced watered down drinks to the gays. You'd knock on the door, they'd eye you through a peephole and then let you in. Every so often the cops would raid, beat some gays over the head with clubs, arrest a few, it would make the paper and everyone was happy. Except the gays.

Then one day things got ugly. No one knows why for sure. Maybe it was because Judy Garland died and the gays were not in a good mood. But the Public Morals Squad raided the place in 1969, turned up the lights, locked the doors and began asking for IDs of the men dressed as men and arrested the men dressed as women. The paddy wagon waited outside. But so did a growing pissed off crowd of gays, drag queens and worst of all lesbians.

When the cops opened the door to haul their arrested in, one lesbian was fighting the handcuffs saying they were too tight. The cops started hitting her with clubs. She yelled to the crowd of gays which had grown by then to do something. They did. They fought back. They beat the hell out of the cops, who retreated and barricaded themselves in the bar. A full on riot ensued. That night and the nights that followed. And there you have it Virginia... how the gay rights movement began.

Do you know the case of Bowers v. Hardwick, 1986 Supreme Court case which upheld sodomy laws as constitutional? It seems Hardwick (yes that's the gay man's name) worked at a gay bar and while at work, tossed an empty beer bottle into the trash just outside the door of the bar. He was ticketed by the cops for public drinking. He tried to pay the ticket but the clerk couldn't find the paperwork. A warrant was issued and when the cop showed up at his door, a friend who was sleeping and hungover on the couch, opened the door and allowed the cop in. The cop walks in, sees Hardwick's bedroom door ajar, walks in and seems Hardwick "in the act" of oral sex with another man. Both are arrested. I'd say that's an infringement on civil rights but hey, I'm not a "libertarian" so maybe I'm out of my element.

IMO there is no "gay gene". It's a combination of genes that express themselves though environmental factors during the human development years that cause the release of abnormal levels of hormone during those development years.

With that said gays and blacks have different histories.

And it is unbelievably offensive and disingenuous for the gay lobby to ride the coattails of African American history. The two are not even remotely comparable. I mean we fought a freaking war and a main issue of that war was black slavery...630,000 Americans died in that war.

Yeah but that Lesbian at Stonecourtgate mall had her handcuffs put on too tight. You probably missed that above. Read that Vegas Bengal post. It will clear it up for you.

Honestly, comparing the plight of blacks in this country to homosexuals is probably pretty insulting to blacks.

Why? Because of what some black preacher in Detroit said? Atlanta's congressman, John Lewis, as well as Coretta Scott King have both given long speeches comparing the parallels of the gay rights movement to the civil rights movement. I think I'll go by what they say.

I agree that comparing gay marriage to civil rights is a disservice to the civil rights movement, but like the OP said I bet 95% of that congregation voted for the party that supports abortion and gay marriage.

No doubt there has been persecution. But if the effort is to piggyback onto Black History as an equivalence, that would be a mistake, IMO.

the victim groups the democrats have put their thumb on are beginning to become incompatible

women and islam?
gays and islam?
gays and black people (heavily Christian)?
gays and latinos (heavily Christian)?
islam and atheism?

WTF are these people thinking, they're creating a dangerous compound and it is going to blow up in their face.

none of these groups are victims, but that hasn't stopped the liberals from telling them that and making them believe it. how long before this blows the frick up in their face?

No one is comparing the plight of the black race and gays. But what you're suggesting is unless you've been enslaved your civil rights haven't been infringed upon.

Righties today love to throw around the term tyranny because gasp the government wants you to register your guns or keeps a data on millions of phone calls while ignoring the tyranny of a govt which arrests it's citizens for having oral sex in the privacy of their bedrooms or for men wearing women's clothes. Back in the 80s an MP used to park outside the gay bar in Alexandria and arrest servicemen walking out the bar. But hey that's not civil rights because they weren't enslaved.

Ever heard of Turing who cracked the German code which played a huge part of winning the war? He was gay and was British and committed the crime of being gay. He was forced to undergo what some call chemical castration. He committed suicide. LINK / but hey 200 years ago his ancestors weren't slaves so he should have taken his punishment.

Also, today in countries around the world being gay is punishable by death. But hey it's not a matter of civil rights so we're good

Once again the plight of two groups do not need to be equal for both to experience tyranny. Women struggled for equal rights including the vote but you can't say bc their plight wasn't that of blacks it's an insult to call their struggle a quest for equal rights and civil liberties.

And to the poster complaining about "victimhood" remember that the next time you post in the daily threads about the victimization of the right by the media, the Christians, the white man.
