It’s kind of dumb bc there are so many Disney movies with diverse lead characters that you don’t have to make a point to choose a white one and make her black just to “stick it” to “white supremacy”.

just curious why the pandering is always so narrowly focused?
The Little Mermaid has actually been adapted multiple times and the titular character has been portrayed by many different ethnicities.
Since most folks are familiar with just the Disney version they seem to think that the little mermaid is some Disney creation

Blacks are like 12% of the population. Why is it if every show or character isn’t cast with half blacks is it racist? Stistcically thinking, only one in 12 characters should be black. Why no one bitches about sports teams being 75% black?

You mean 1 in 8 (8 x 12.5=100). 14% is 1 in 7. 16 to 17% is 1 in 6, 20% is 1 in 5, etc.

It would likely grind the gears of the far left more if there was no outrage about casting a black mermaid. To me it does not matter at all as to what happens here

You’re asking this on the PT there friend. Lot of triggered Trumpkin snowflakes around here that want to keep their fictional characters white cause thats the way the Ariel they growed up with and by god white mermaids is right mermaids!!

Its called “color-conscious casting” and it’s just another euphemism for “anti-white.” It’s the intentional exclusion of white people based on skin color. Liberals of course are Ok with this.
“Color-blind casting” is the altogether disregard of race in casting decisions. But bc it does not automatically result in POCs getting more roles, liberals now prefer color-conscious casting.

That’s great. But this is a Disney remake of the Disney movie. The Disney princesses are already carefully diverse by ethnicity and hair color, and for 30 years Ariel has been the red head Disney princess. It’s probably her defining feature.
