I have four daughters, so I know the Disney princesses pretty good. This is just more agenda pushing bullshite. If Tiana (a black princess) we’re cast as a blonde haired blue eyed princess there would be outrage. By the way, Toy Story 4 is full of homosexuals and mixed races. It’s supposed to be for children, yet one of early scenes is a interracial lesbian couple dropping off their kid at pre-school. Why push this on kids?!?

Wow
Well it still has to have nuances of humanity, doesn’t it?

Good God, glad my kids are old enough not to care anymore, my daughter reports to me about the lib agenda one of her snowflake teachers push, she knows how to play the game, but we laugh at his stupid agenda pushing arse

Surprised they didn't pick a mixed race transgender for the part.
This.
Of course they can save some face if this non-swimmer does an OP ed in teen vogue on the pleasures only possible by being a 12 year old lesbian.

Also, the Aladdin movie? Everyone is middle eastern except for a bumbling idiot prince from Ireland or something (of course) and the Genie who says he’s the most powerful being in the universe and talks like he’s from the hood. (Played by Will Smith)

They floated that the next Bond was going to be Idris Elba. No one disputes that Elba is a great actor and might make a great James Bond. But the race shift would be jarring, visually and just not in keeping with the expectations of the character.
Well Bond has been 30y old dude for 60 years so I think we can work in a black dude

So its impossible to culturally appropriate anything fictional?
Got it.

"We're not coming for your kids, we just want the ability to marry. What we do in the privacy of our own bedrooms is none of your business."

In the current era where there is a constant push to “right the wrongs” of the past, with a continuous reflexive harping on victim narratives, I guess it shouldn’t be surprising that some are balking at yet another perceived redo (crusader fashion) of something that they never considered to be racially tinged.
However, this is a dumb place to fight that battle.
Ariel is a fantasy character in a fantasy narrative. Reinterpretation of a fantasy narrative, as long as the meta-narrative remains the same, is fittingly done for a different or changing culture.
If you don’t want to see a reinterpretation of Little Mermaid with a black girl playing the lead, then don’t see it. Others, such as black parents or white parents who like to expose their kids to diversity, are probably excited to see it, and appropriately so.
To me, an archetypal fantasy story portrayed with black actors is a better way to include entertainment options that are inclusive of black people than by creating a weak fantasy story about black oppression. Archetypal stories resonate for a reason. They reflect deeper truths.

So, like casting Tiana (a black princess) as a blonde haired blue eyed princess would be okay and diverse enough for black people to accept it, right?

Why is there no push for a Hispanic mermaid?
or an Asian mermaid?
or a Native American mermaid?
just curious why the pandering is
always so narrowly focused?
Coco is a 2017 movie for Hispanics.
Mulan for the asians.
Pocahontas for the Natives.
Actually save for Princess and the Frog , Blacks have little representation.

That's because Disney deleted Uncle Remus...

Any examples of this happening in reverse in the last decade?
People do not have issues with black protagonists, they have issues with double standards.

Natives and asians have a lower population percentage and thus need even more representation. That's how this works, right?
