Black guy here; hoping to bring some sense of logic and reason to the melt on both sides.

1. I blame ESPN and the media for blowing everything out of proportion in the first place. Instead of making these protests about the broken criminal justice system. Along with the feeling amongst many minorities that the flag that is supposed to represent a ideal of liberty and justice for all, and many feel that progress on those issues for minorities haven't been made like they should have 50 years after the peak of the civil rights movement. The media decided to make it about disrespecting the flag; which makes no sense because the flag also represents free speech and the ability to criticize the society that the flag flies over.
2. People opposed to the protests to the point of NFL Boycotts or supporting the firing of protesting players don't seem to understand that the players are not trying to disrespect the flag. They are trying to start a conversation about what the flag represents and if our society is truly holding itself up to those ideals.
3. The conversation will never happen as long as people in the media and the President continue to divide the country by making the conversation about the flag; and not mass incarceration or the prevalence of police brutality. I can promise you that the players protesting love this country; and only want to see the country come to terms with an ugly past that we've yet to truly have a civil and honest discussion about.
I know I'm not changing minds, I just wanted to clarify some things. People seem to be confused as to why people are even protesting.

The black community's trash family structure is far more of an issue to the nation at whole than any of the things you posted.

Why say minorities when you mean blacks? Unless you think Asians feel that way as well...

Here is what the blacks would need to do for me to get on board.
1. Recognize that the largest threat to blacks is other blacks. Take some freaking responsibility for the community.
2. Stop trying to act like all the police killings are unjust.
3. Rally behind a real unjust killing. Not sterling.

BS. To the left 'starting a conversation' = 'listen to my lecture and don't offer rebuttal because it will offend me.'
It's been going on for 50 years.

Police brutality is nothing compared to the black on black violence in the inner cities.
Open your eyes, educate yourself and speak out on the real issues

The flag REPRESENTS THE IDEAL. When you stand for the flag, you are saying you love the nation's ideals want to make the country even better by making those ideals more prevalent in all corners of America.
In order to make something better, you have to love it first.

That's ur thoughts the players are just being disrespectful. I also think the vast majority hard working Americans are tired of hearing how minorities have it so rough in America . They don't, the simple truth is the majority of problems in black America can only be solved by black America.

WTF?
We've had brutally honest discussions on race since I was in grade school.
"Brutally honest" = What you want to hear.

You can't have a discussion by pissing off half of the panel you want to have a discussion with. I would advise any person to use your brain and not your knee if you are expecting to getting down to the brass tacks.

I would bet that fully 3/4 of them don't even know why they're kneeling.

Good post. You are too reasonable for the internet.

but there is a time and a place. Beyonce's past halftime show was BLM. I don't want politics when I am watching the Superbowl or any sports event.
How would ya'll feel if a conservative female did a halftime show saying white lives matter putting her white fist up in the air saying white power?
Sorry but the past President made race relations worse.

What conversation? Oh you mean the one where only your side speaks and makes demands while the rest of us continue to pay for the lifestyles of a certain subset of black culture?
