I went yesterday. It wasn’t read at that mass but it could have been we had a guest priest from India. You could barely understand what he was saying. Also gave a 30 minute homily

If we had a split in the church for traditional American Catholics, I would leave today. The Methodists did it. The looney leftist trans activist Methodists were left by the traditionalists. I can’t see a reason that this is not happening in the Catholic church. The leaders of the church are all leftist, mostly low key anti-American asshats.

Just how many people do you think died directly from Covid? Newsflash, it wasn’t “tens of millions.”

I’ve talked to Bishop Duca personally one on one about this specific issue. Bishop Duca and I disagree. But there is nothing about his message, which I heard him read at the Cathedral downtown today, that is inconsistent with the church’s message. He is rightfully concerned with parishioners being in fear of going to church and so he issued a dispensation. That doesn’t mean that he is endorsing lawlessness . He did not make a case for evading the authority of The State. But he is a man of the cloth and he has an entirely different set of concerns for his flock, one based strictly on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I respect both the man and his message, which was a message of compassion and concern.
I live in the material world and have another set of principles. I believe in the Rule of Law. But I also listen to Bishop Duca’s words and leave a place in my heart for a higher message. I think that was Bishop Duca’s intention and that is how I and my girlfriend both received it at mass today.

We don't need a split. We simply need to run the church that Jesus gave us by its own rules and teachings. I've posted the CCC 2241 multiple times here. Just as the post Vatican 2 era gave us the liberal priests which are finally retiring, the church is self correcting. We may not hear it from Duca or even Pope Leo. However, the younger conservative priests give me great hope for the future of our church. In my own parish, the fact that the young priest chose not to read that letter is but one example.

You're right. But the media and nearly all of the "experts" trotted out wanted us to think people were dying in massive numbers.

Meanwhile the Grand Wizard Pope sits on his throne behind a wall and armed guards to keep out the illegal hordes.

It's hard to take the diocese seriously. They also like to provide shelter to pedophile priests.

So, how does one say they support human trafficking and crime without saying it outright? Notice how there was nothing said about the victims of illegal criminals, and yes, they are all criminals. Notuce how there's never anything said about the near slave wages paid to these people while they fraudulently obtain government benefits that are only for citizens. It's a total scam or worse and the American bishops are in the middle of it.
You seem to think people can't read between the lines. These bishops and the pope have nothing good to say about our government when their cash cow is being ended.
Why does it seem impossible to have an official statement concerning how wonderful the overturning of "Roe vs. Wade" was originally how the administration is trying to stop the mutilation of minors? Nothing, nada.
Don't "prelatesplain". We all know the reason for this and it most definitely is NOT consistent with any teaching if the Catholic Church.

Maybe you should go back and read the letter.

How about his flock going back to where they are legal and practice Catholicism there? Seems reasonable rather than evade the law and hide

From his letter (emphasis added):
quote:
With the recent publicized arrival of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers into south Louisiana and greater Baton Rouge, and since many of the faithful genuinely fear immigration enforcement actions, thereby making it untenable for them to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, I hereby grant a dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass for those Catholics rightfully afraid to participate in Mass because of their fear. This dispensation will be valid until the individual Catholic determines it is safe to attend Mass again or this dispensation is revoked or amended.
Ergo, he is permitting criminal aliens to shirk their obligations under the Ten Commandments because they are "rightfully afraid" of ICE.
frick him.

I stopped going to mass about 3 years ago. Catholic charities has done more harm to this country than most sane democrats.

So we do we get dispensation for the insane amount of basketball tournaments his parish’s schools have when we can’t make mass?
