My step brother is so far gone that he thinks Bill Maher is too conservative. He will not even view a clip from Tucker or Hannity. He has lived in Prague for 20 yrs and votes here in Florida. I always tell him he has no right to vote for government that others have to live under.

He is too conservative for the actual Left. He a few weeks ago said that Republicans behaving like Matt Gaetz is a good thing and that Democrats should be acting more like him since Republicans are now the party of fun while Democrats have become the party of prudes. He also blamed Ashlii Babbit’s death on California politicians. Also said that DeSantis clearly handled Covid the best and called for an end to the lockdowns last May. Those things are what no Leftist wants to hear.

I know. I have a former friend who lives in SF and thinks that everyone outside SF thinks like him because he reads /Pol. So I challenged him to a little exercise. I took my Reddit account there, started a thread titled “I voted for Donald Trump in 2020 AMA”, and he said they’d allow that. Within 3 minutes the thread was not only removed but I was also permanently banned from /Pol. Still didn’t convince him he was in a total bubble.

This where Maher is right now. I understand his personal hatred for Trump since next to Rosie, the Clintons, Obama, and Trump’s ex-wives, no one has a better reason to hate Trump than Maher.
Save for issues in the Middle East (Maher is a soft Zionist and would instead give credit to Kushner for it), he can’t bring himself to give Trump credit for anything just because of who Trump is. He has no problem giving it to DeSantis where he agreed with him when he opened up Florida and largely defended him from there, but what Maher has to realize is that Trump is a dumber, more crass, and less refined version of DeSantis. He needs to realize this and quickly. He’s not stupid and has balls.

I think of Trump as kind of an idiot savant. He’s clearly a branding, marketing, and media genius, but he has such blind spots that are totally crippling to him. DeSantis I think is an actual genius. No blind spots on him.
