I don't mind beneficial EOs. This one is stupid as frick. Ask a fan of it if it is useful other than for campaign purposes and you'll have your answer on if this one is truly beneficial. And even that is suspect.

This is a bad deal. Douchebag newbs will call me a lib for this opinion.

You do understand that this didn’t HAVE to come down to an EO, right?

Exactly. Don’t like the EO? Then blame Pelosi and the Democrats for refusing to pass a bill that would have helped the renters and owners.

The main thing I like about this is that Trump is punishing Roberts and forcing the Supreme court to fix his and the leftists's decision. I hope.

The whole executive order thing needs to be curtailed and Trump is making this point on purpose.

What legal basis does the government have to suspend evictions?

The same legal basis that lets the government force people into unemployment.

You can't send 40+ million people to the unemployment line and then allow them to be kicked out of their homes. If you're going to destroy the economy, then you have to provide some kind of relief unless you want to see people killing each other over food and shelter.

We wouldn't have to worry about evictions if the retarded politicians didn't intentionally kill the economy. Attacking the politician trying to actually help citizens is dumb. Attack the ones that passed orders requiring businesses to close.

John Roberts's decision on the DACA EO is in part what led to this and Trump MUST force the Supreme Court's hand in overturning its own decision immediately. If this EO doesn't do it, then he needs to make an even more outrageous, overreaching EO that forces them to. The Roberts's decision cannot be allowed to move forward as case law when a commie works their way into the White House.

Or is it the governments job to step in?
When government has stepped in and prevented people from making a living and providing for their own then yes, government has an obligation to mitigate the fricking damage. Congress could have and should have done it’s damned job. So now it’s lead, follow or get the hell out of the way

They will put in stuff to protect foreclosing on these things.

It's not just a moratorium on rentals, it also prevents foreclosures for property owners and homeowners.

What legal basis does the government have to suspend evictions? Essentially forcing landlords to provide free housing.

So basically you're saying if you owe the guy money for rent, pay him or get out. So I assume you feel the same way about the deferment on student loans. Either pay what you owe or default on your loan and wreck your credit?

Same here. If i didn't pay off my rent house last year i wouldn't have been able to evict a tenant that i am now. He is a danger to the other renters and constantly destroys the property. I would be livid if i couldn't evict this guy.

It would have chased off my paying tenants and left me with the terrible one not paying. The evictions EO was a terrible idea but democrats would have used it as fuel to get people out to vote against trump so i can see why he did it.

It’s a sad state that we’re in. People abandoning their principles in exchange for the feels that a cult membership gives. The same rooting for the EOs he’s given were out for blood over Obama’s saying they were unconstitutional. When confronted the response is excusing it with “what would you have him do?”. Our country is going down the hole and the state of government quickly turning into something unrecognizable. Sad
Then why did the Dems cancel the bill?
