that the SCOTUS has to hear this case

quote:

Public school football coaches need the right to pray

quote:

Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the case of Coach Joe Kennedy, a football coach who has been banned from doing the thing he loves for more than six years. The reason: He exercised his constitutional right to pray silently at the 50-yard line at the end of games.

quote:

in Washington State

quote:

Teachers do not check their constitutional rights at the door

quote:

The Ninth Circuit, siding with the school district, found it problematic that "spectators, students, parents, and community members" might observe Coach Kennedy’s "religious conduct."

The 9th is back to their stupidity with Brandon in the WH.
This is why we have a 2nd amendment; to protect the 1st.

As I understand the prayer is voluntary. So it is OK to kneel for the National Anthem but to kneel for God is offensive?

But it is okay to force kids in school to observe/participate in a daily pledge to a flag.

when's the last time you've seen inside of a classroom? Obama era ended the mandatory pledge. Kids don't have to do it anymore

I wish folks understood that we have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

Hell next time just everyone he is Muslim doing a prayer and the courts would protect him with their dying breathe

They don’t have to recite it but still have to observe it being performed.

So a school employee can teach you how to jack off and explain that although you have a penis you may be a girl but that same school employee can't lead you in prayer.

I hope the court does the right thing and recognizes the right to pray.

The founders included the 1st amendment, at least in part, to protect the free exercise of religion, not to banish it from the public square.

The problem is that the regressive left, as always, is too stupid to understand our bill of rights and constitutional amendments.

It’s not freedom FROM religion, it is freedom of religion .

And the constitution keeps the government from forcing religion on people, not keep people from practicing their religion in public.

The ghouls on the left, once again, driving that bus straight to hell.

The modern pledge was written by a socialist and imo, no private citizen should be required to swear an allegiance to any country’s flag or government. That is reserved for those that choose public service.

And to the OP’s point, if kids/fans have to observe a pledge or national anthem then he should have the right to practice his faith as he sees fit.

Not the same. The coach did not lead the prayer. If the satanist wants to pray let him, but not lead other to pray.

Coach did the prayer after school activity had officially concluded. The school claimed they had jurisdiction. They did not.

Satanist has asked the school board if he could have a prayer. They can only tell him to eat a big bag of dicks, much the same way they would tell a Christian asking for a prayer. He’s just setting himself up for a losing case.

The ironic part is if he wants a satanic post-game prayer, he can just go do it.

SCOTUS made its decision. It was the correct constitutional ruling. Sorry for your luck.
