That's the easiest question to decide. You just draw a line somewhere and people decide on their own where they live, but the laws and tone of the country will motivate each group to self select one or the other.

You want abortion on demand? Taxpayer funded health care? Drag queen story hour? Wide open borders? No guns? Well, then you better move to the United Feels of America.

You want low taxes, traditional family values, everybody speaks English and little or no welfare state and you think gun control means you use both hands? Then the Based States of America is for you.

Much harder would be how you preserve the American dollar. What happens to its status in the world? Who gets the military? How is that divided up, exactly? When you have military communication and supply and storage networks spanning the entire country?

And what happens to the balance of power in the world when the dollar is no longer the reserve currency of the world and we no longer have the strongest military b/c we split it in two?

How long before both new countries speak Chinese? Five years? Less?

I'd love a separation but I wouldn't want it to ne peaceful....

If Liberty is to continue in this nation, it will come in some form of subsidiary, nullification and even secession movements at the State and local level. Using the threat of legitimate secession and nullification as simple bargaining tools would itself be a tremendous transfer of power back to the individual States and away from Washington.
