It's the same thing that happened in Trump's first term.
He wanted Obamacare repealed and replaced and Republicans fumbled farted around and never came up with a replacement. A Republican Congress is as useless as tits on a boar hog.
Exactamundo.
The GOP and Trump following the same script:

"Overseas"? lol
Wouldn't surprise me one bit. I'm not sure which parts of the Gravy Train are [AREN'T] derailed.
Any claims of "accomplishment" and "benefits" and "reductions" to the national debt and the GOP-sponsored Big Beautiful Bloated Bill should be regarded with the following contempt:

Have there been any improvements to the bill? They bumped up the medicare work requirement to 2026, correct?

Sooo you think Massie is a great guy? Did you vote for that dingbat Harris? Are you mentally challenged? Suffering from traumatic brain injury?

Tariffs are a tool. They will help us with out debt
Trump is currently talking about sending out stimulus checks that far exceed the total revenue from tariffs

I can't figure out if this is a legit response or if you're helping him with a list of more retarded responses.

In reality, can Republicans ever get spending cuts passed? I'm talking impactful cuts that will actually reduce the national debt long term?
At this point, i don't think they can anymore. The takers have exceeded the providers. So any cuts to welfare, corruptions, or waste is used to beat teh Republicans in the next election and sadly, it works.
So if you can't realistically cut our way out of it, how do you reduce the debt? You'll have to increase GDP.
I don't know if the BBB is going to drastically increase GDP. And maybe we can make legitimate cuts. But it doesn't seem like any cuts we make does anything than put the democrats in power.
Listening to Elon on Rogan the other night. It seems hopeless and as he stated it, the debt issue can not be solved in Washington. So the only way to solve the debt issue is by increasing GDP drastically, which he says, the way to do this is through AI.
ETA: i'm not defending the current spending, just asking a legit question. Massie can't get support for anything he wants to do so he can say what he wants without any repurcussions and just a lot of "i told ya so's".

Massie helped add $9 trillion to the debt under Biden.
So far Massie has added more to the Debt than Trump.

The government hands out stimulus payments every spring.

The very simple answer was yes we missed our opportunity which may have required getting rid of the filibuster but if all of the excess found by Doge was implemented that would create a reduction in our deficit spending and gotten rid of all of the fraud within our government to a large extent

As long as corporations can lobby and buy legislation to enrichen themselves in congress, there will never be any true cuts to spending. If a globalist like Rand or a 'conservative' like Massie were President, the results would be the same.
I do not think it is corporations and lobbyists - it is the American people.
The only way you are going to cut the deficit is to cut some combination of;
Social security
Medicare
Medicaid
Defense.
Look at the holy hell put up for slowing the growth of Medicaid. Voters will never ever vote for someone wanting to cut medicare or social security
Defense, maybe you could get voters to buy into defense cuts, but that by itself really won't do much.
You could raise taxes, but voters only have an appetite to vote for other people's taxes to be raised. You could squeeze some more tax money for sure, but at some point, it will affect economic growth.
I don't know what the long term projections are, say after most or all of the Baby Boomers die. It would seem like social security and Medicare spending should decrease. But i have no idea how much deficit reduction that would follow.
