Rivian paused the factory because the demand isn't there......a sweetheart deal won't change that....

VW may buy them

In what world does it cost 7 billion dollars to build a car factory.

I don't have any idea what the size of this Rivian plant is, but Tesla's factory in Austin is around $10B.

Being government financing, I'm sure that $7B includes plenty of waste.

The big expense isn't the building itself, it's all the equipment inside. GM is/was spending $4B to retool it's existing Orion MI plant for EVs.

Still do but they don’t apply to Gov pets. Play ball and you get a pass. Most of these “to big to fail” corporations are rife with Sherman, Clayton, Robinson-Patman, and FTC violations on the regular.

We used to have anti-trust laws to check this. But our govt seems to have lost interest in filing those charges because they get paid big bucks by corporations.

Yeah, bureaucrats realized its easier to manage 3-4 companies than a dozen smaller ones. Its a crime.

Wasn't (isn't) Tesla a benefactor of government subsidies - direct and indirect?

Will Elon hurt his own businesses in his search for "efficiency"?

Will be interesting to watch....

The Rivian deal was pretty popular here especially with the GOP brass.

I picture the Rivian truck driver has a pair of Lucchese boots he wears to the country club on Yellowstone night to drink Chickalobes with his fellow bankers

How much was the wall again?

It’s amazing how Trump was stalled on every move but Biden was able to spend like a drunk woman on Amazon. I thought spending had to be passed through congress.

I’ve seen a few on the road. Cool looking vehicle.

They look great and received solid reviews when they came out.

Not sure how they are after being on the road for a few years.

That front end is ruined with the figgy vertical lights.

And they have essentially become the virtue signal car of choice for brain raped retards with terminal EDS.

Tesla would ultimately benefit more by the competition failing.

Its a concerted effort against Elon because he supported Trump. Newsome is passing a $7500 tax credit on all evs except tesla. Why Elon still has any business presence in California bottles the mind. Tesla is half of ev sales in Ca so just move and let them have at it

Probably so but remember at Teslas inception this was Tesla.

“Boggles”, and Newsome’s government will be sued, and will lose, over that discrimination.

Can someone please explain to me how the DOE has over 1 billion dollars to "loan"???

The Inflation Reduction Act. Biden admitted earlier this year that in the end it was really a climate bill. Most of the funding in it is actually for shite like this.

Congress fricked American Citizens by either knowing what it was and voting for it, voting for it without knowing what it really was, or just not caring enough to do diligence and bring what it was to light.
