Why was this done? The answer is simple, it was to try to narrow the gap in access to credit especially for minority home buyers who often have lower down payments and lower credit scores,”
They fricking earned that credit score. They weren’t assigned it.
ETA: it’s like an old teacher told me once, “I didn’t give you your grade, you earned your C”

That website is terrible.
But is the plan that the larger the down payment, the higher the interest? Closing costs? Mortgage insurance? What exactly is it?

Less money, shittier credit, bad business decisions= better mortgage rates

It’s a bad policy, but there needs to be some context in this thread too. It is still, without a doubt, more expensive to have bad credit and buy a home than it is to have good credit under these policies, but the gap was closed, hence the subsidized label.
Loan to value is on the x axis, credit score is on the y axis.
ETA- Positive numbers mean the rate got better in that subset, negative numbers mean the rate got worse.

I don’t disagree.
Most people will have to pay more to subsidize rates for shittier borrowers. That’s dumb, buts it’s still better to have good credit and a low DTI. That’s all I’m pointing out.

What the frick?!?!? So punish people for doing everything right?
Posted on 4/19/23 at 10:21 pm to slackster
Where I fall in that chart, it looks like the bank should pay me, since I should have negative interest.

Democrats are openly saying people were assigned their credit scores. Because racism, presumably.

It’s plain as day: the govt wishes to crush the middle class.

That chart shows the changes. It’s not the best format, but it’s better than posting the old and new matrix separately.
Positive numbers mean the rate got better in that subset, negative numbers mean the rate got worse.
ETA- here are the raw numbers…
