The FBI stated last month that it processed a record 39.7 million firearm background checks in 2020, which bested the previous high of 10 million. Reports said that as many as 8.5 million purchased their first firearm in 2020, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Meanwhile, a number of gun and ammunition manufacturers reported shortages amid the surge in demand.

Biden earlier this month said that he would push Congress to enact more gun control measures, including allowing gun manufacturers to face lawsuits, banning “assault weapons,” and placing bans on high-capacity magazines. His pick for Attorney General, Merrick Garland, told lawmakers on Monday that he would support the White House’s stance on gun control.

“This Administration will not wait for the next mass shooting to heed that call. We will take action to end our epidemic of gun violence and make our schools and communities safer. Today, I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets,” Biden said earlier this month.

Pro-Second Amendment groups have noted that the term “assault weapon” has a nebulous meaning, with some saying that it is a made-up term that was invented by the anti-gun lobby in the 1980s. “Assault rifle” is a term sometimes used by the military to define a rifle that has select-fire capabilities, or the ability to switch between semi-automatic or fully automatic. For example, the much-derided AR-15 doesn’t have select-fire capability and only operates as a semi-automatic rifle.

They’ll be more boat accidents in 2021 than in any previous year.

I had a three tour Iraq veteran tell me a few weeks ago, “If you’re to the point where you have to lie to someone about your guns being lost in a boating accident, it’s time to use them.”

It was a very sobering discussion

All they will do is make us all criminals. They are not going to come get the guns anytime soon. I seen a ex special forces guy talking about it in a interview. The cops will get destroyed if they try to come in and take peoples guns from their houses.

I get the joke that “oh I lost all my guns in a boat accident” but this is absolutely the truth.

I know a guy that bought plastic bags to bury his guns in his yard. I asked him if they do actually come to your door what good will your guns be buried in your yard? He couldn’t answer the question.

He is 1000% right. It’s one thing to hear LARPers talking about boogaloo this and that. When the folks who have seen the horrible things of combat start becoming concerned, that’s when we all need to take notice.

Do you want to have an actual conversation about this or do you just want to play like you are morally superior because “we think the government is coming for our guns”?

Because based on words that come out of the presidents mouth he wants to make me a criminal.

Absolutely HATE this term.

quote:

including requiring background checks on all gun sales

Does this include the sale of stolen guns being sold from the trunk of a car?

quote:

banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines

You mean guns and magazines that are used in a relatively few crimes?

quote:

and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets

By "weapons of war" do you mean AR-15 and other scary black rifles? I pity the fool who actually takes one of those off to war in this day-and-age. Are you going to sue Obama's Justice Department for putting actual "weapons of war" on our city streets?
