Couldn't they just as easily turn off the pipeline?

Sure, and then he's the bad guy and Europe hates him even more.

Also, why not blow the pipeline closer to Russian territorial waters? Just asking questions here.

What would that serve?

Johnstone here is anti-imperalist left.

She clearly needs to be directed to this board because I came up with, on the fly and while drinking cofeee, an actual reason for Putin to do it that is much better than her cited "strongest arguments"

Did you post a picture of Putin's alleged justification based on NATO expansion?

Opinions are subjective, of course, but I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, implausible as you sound.

Putin LITERALLY just did it with his "NATO" justification for invasion.

I know you've been at it all day selling the "Putin just really hated his nose" rationale, but while I think that's a piece of it, I think he had a bigger long term goal. Which I already posted.

What?

No. Putin wanted control over critical land linking Russia with Crimea.

That’s not a justification for blowing up the pipeline

Rule #1: Everyone lies to justify invasion.
Rule #2: The media is always on the wrong side.

If you're going to covertly blow up your own pipeline, I'd assume you'd want to lessen the chances of an adverse nation seeing your special forces doing it?

I think the motivation for Putin to do this is tenuous at best. With that said, this has got to be investigated by an independent team with members coming from NATO and Russia. Otherwise, this is the sort of incident that could lead to a regional conflict and cold war turning into a major conflict. This happened in 1914 and it didn't end well.

Citing NATO as a reason to invade Ukraine isn't, either, but it's going the distance for him.

Well on the flip side, you increase the chance of people saying you did it in areas you felt safe in. It goes both ways.

Russia invading Ukraine already lit that match.

You're going to put every environmental regulation on the back of the WEF?
No. Just the ones that the WEF has overtly pushed that just so happen to be adapted by multiple countries. I guess it's just one hell of a coincidence.

I mean when you call yourself teh "World economic forum" I'm not seeing how calling them globalists is a stretch.

Wait what? You're going to put every environmental regulation on the back of the WEF?
Nice strawman!

Remember what I said about vagueness?
I do. But then you used vague commonaities to accuse people of being Putin fans.

quote:

According to some, sure?
Again, you're stating that false labels are equivalent to overtly stated goals of an organziation. If that's what you want to call an equivalence, there's nothing more for me to say. It stands on it's own. I dont' need to do anything more.

That’s comparing apples to Shetland Ponies.

One is a public justification for something he already did, one is a private justification for something people are accusing him of doing.
