Interesting that you think that is implied. Can you please provide me with a link or proof showing that all the loans forgiven were for public service workers?

Awesome. My son-in-law, who graduated from Tulane in 2001 and amassed a staggering school loan debt and has since been repaid, will be thrilled to hear that all is forgiven. He's out by the mailbox now waiting for his reimbursement check.

Trump would get impeached for going against the USSC like this.

I won’t waste my time trying to attempt to change your mind because I don’t have the time to sit here and go back and forth with you. It’s also obvious from your responses in this thread and others that I have seen, you are set in your ways and beliefs and will defend this corrupt government at all costs. Good day!

Hmmm.... So I'm just supposed to believe your interpretation of a story? Is that what you are telling me?

All that I'm doing is explaining reality to people who reject it.

These approvals are the result of fixes made by the Administration to Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

If this program already exists and the law is merely working as intended, what did he need to "fix"?

Also, I always thought "fixes" to laws had to go through Congress....

I referenced it earlier. At the end of the Trump admin the first group of people started to get their 120 payments, and it was a disaster. Like the Obamacare website disaster on HGH.

99% of applicants were rejected from government student loan forgiveness program

quote:

The Education Department denied 99% of requests for relief processed under the newly expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, according to a review by the Government Accountability Office released Thursday.

Only 661 applications were approved while 53,523 were denied during the first 12 months after the fix was put in place.

quote:

Borrowers argued that the qualification requirements were complex and poorly communicated by loan servicers, and some have filed lawsuits against the companies. In July, the American Federation of Teachers sued the Department of Education over the issue, alleging that the agency has mismanaged the program.

Some borrowers, after making 10 years of payments, found out that they didn’t have the right kind of federal student loan, were in the wrong repayment plan, or worked for an employer that didn’t qualify for forgiveness.

quote:

The bipartisan fix put in place by Congress was meant to allow those borrowers who had been in the wrong repayment plan to still qualify for forgiveness. But it requires a borrower to have first applied and been rejected to the original program. About 71% of those who had been rejected by the fix had not done so, according to the new report.
