it's a slimy way of getting Hispanics to vote for him. they see "beto" on the ballot and vote for him. but now he's on the ballot with a guy named "cruz"

Looks like he's been playing the long con. What kind of a-hole toddler gives himself a Spanish nickname, just so he can become a Texas politician? A real scumbag, that's who.

An entire thread where the Trumpers argue that they get to declare who is white enough or Hispanic enough to have a nickname. Talk about identity politics.

If Beto was a Republican every last Dem would be screaming cultural appropriation and calling him a racist and you damn well know it.

Ridiculous. Cruz has omitted his first name.
... and kept his heritage-indicative last name. Unlike Beto. One hasn't hidden his heritage. The other has. It's just that simple.

No it isn't. Everyone knows he is O'rourke. You are grasping at straws

Cruz needs to continuously hammer a few themes and the nickname of opponent isn’t one of them. There are: 1. The economy is doing great and the oil patch is much improved. 2. Beto Orouke, as a Democratic Senator, will vote for open boarders, the abolishment of Border law enforcement, socialists policies and higher taxes. This will be done when the Dems need his vote, no matter what he says now about how he will vote. 3. A vote for Beto Orouke is a vote for Chuck Schumer. 4. Beto can not be counted on to support Conservative judicial appointments.

Ted should also refer to him as Congressman O’Rourke or maybe Robert.

Lion Ted will trounce this poser. He dwarfed the total Democratic vote in the primary where he wasn't even truly contested. Not to mention a very popular Republican governor will also be on the state ballot in November to give him an extra boost.

But I do love the Dems getting their hopes up.

I doubt he gave himself the nickname when he was a toddler.

He probably had a housekeeper or nanny who called him Beto (Spanish nickname for Roberto) and he giggled a lot and his parents thought it was cute so it stuck.
