Absolutely not. I just hate attacks based upon childish non-issues.

No it's definitely an actual person. A buddy of mine got a text from them too and he showed me their response. Not a bot.

Doesn’t O’Rourke speak fluent Spanish? If he can relate to the Hispanic citizens of his state, that’s a good thing.

What does that have to do with pretending to be Hispanic?

Other than the nickname, which has reportedly been his nickname for many years, how is he pretending anything?

I lived in Texas this summer, there wasn't a trace of "Robert" "O'Rourke" or any picture of this guy anywhere. "BETO" with the Democratic Party behind him leads someone who wouldn't know otherwise to one conclusion

You can sit there and pretend that he isn't trying to manipulate some % of voters that he is Hispanic but you'll look incredibly dishonest for doing so

You know who else spoke Spanish? W. I don't recall the progressives thinking that was a good thing.

Hispanic Caucus, Black Caucus, they're all racist. We should have a White Caucus.

OK, let’s cut the BS.

The idea that this candidate has adopted the nickname “Beto“ for political purposes is absolutely ridiculous. The evidence is uncontroverted that he has used this nickname since he was a small child. Let’s set that aside, and discuss and actually interesting issue.

Yes, it is certainly possible (perhaps even “likely”) that his campaign has considered the possibility that the signage in question might turn the votes of a few thousand uninformed voters. The question to ask, however, is whether that fact would make any real difference in this campaign.

I submit that he is bright enough to understand that any voter likely to be swayed by that tactic is also a voter who is almost certain to vote Democrat in any case.

further, one must consider the purpose of this type of signage. Put simply, it has one purpose. Name Recognition. Small signs. Big letters. Nothing complicated.

The use of a short, simple nickname achieved that goal. Like it or not, the four letters “BETO“ is more memorable and more recognizable than “Robert Francis O’Rourke.“. It is an effective use of that particular campaign tool.

That's a lot of words to say that he's pretending to be Hispanic to get votes

Gotta hand it to the kid. Even at such a young age he knew how to market himself.

Apparently he used Rob/Robert when he attended Columbia (ironically I think that might be where "Barry" Soetero/Obama became Barrack). I guess maybe 'Beto' wasn't Ivy League enough.
