Because it’s easier to be the party of “morality” than of ideas. It’s great when you can make elections about good versus evil. And even better when you have a fringe to “enforce” morality through all manners of disgusting social retribution

I honestly think that they are just securing the base, which is so much more important than everything else. The issue for dems is the vocal minority is playing the public role of the “dem base” and holding them hostage with socialist demands in the process. Only time will tell how moderate and blue dog dems will respond. I think the left is calculating that they will never support Trump, which may be true, but they sure as hell might stay home on Election Day.
