The Democrat Party embracing it extreme, radical left...a group believing in post-birth abortions, reparations, white male hatred, violent free-speech suppression, etc...is the Republican equivalent of embracing its extreme right...espousing segregation, overt black male hatred, forced church attendance, forced military service and real white supremacy (real stuff, not what is labeled as such by the new Left).

The liberal progressive democrats believe, for good reason, that 51% of the people now are agreeable to giving up their individual rights (freedom) in favor an 500 member elite dictating to them what they are and who they should be.

Votes and billions in federal grants to friends of the campaigns. That's an easy one.
The democrats going way left is tougher. I'd speculate that the regular democratic party is about to take a hard hit, and they'll need a replacement.
